I Love Carson City's Weekend Event Summary: Nov. 28-29

The long weekend continues, along with great shopping, friends, family, and fun. It’s Small Business Saturday, which is a great time to explore our downtown shops, and the local businesses throughout town. Don’t miss the Christmas Kick-off at Evergreen Gene’s, complete with a visit from Santa. Carson Valley Inn hosts its annual Kandy Kane Holiday Craft Fair. You will also find great Nevada items in our Museum Gift Shops and at the Chamber of Commerce’s Artisan Gallery.

Small Business SATURDAY:

• Nevada Artists Association Art Exhibit featuring Anna Louise Darden and Photography by Chas. H. McDonnell, III at the Carson Visitor Center(8am-5pm)
• Coffee and Donuts with EAA Sierra Chapter 403 at 2500 E. College Pkwy (8:30am-12pm, all welcome)
• Toys for Tots Toy Drive at the North Carson Walmart (9am-3pm)
• 16th Annual Kandy Kane Holiday Craft Fair in the Valley Ballroom at Carson Valley Inn, Minden (9am-6pm)
• Christmas Kick Off with Santa: Food Drive and Sock and Glove Tree for Do Drop In at Evergreen Gene’s: 1811 N. Carson (9am-5pm; bring a camera for pictures with Santa 12pm-1pm)
• Arlington Square Ice Rink: corner of N. Carson and Robinson St. (Sessions 10am-1pm, 2pm-5pm, 6pm-10pm; $7/$5 kids, $3 Skate Rental)
• McKeen Motor Car Rides at the Nevada State Railroad Museum (10am-4pm; $8, $4 kids 11 and under)

Grab the kids and head downtown. The Arlington Square Ice Rink is the place to be for wintery memories. All aboard at the Nevada State Railroad Museum where you’ll find the historical McKeen Motor Car raring to go. Visions of sugar plum fairies are easy to come by if you attend a performance of the annual Pinkerton Ballet ‘The Nutcracker.’

They may be called ‘Whiskey Before Breakfast,’ but the Bluegrass and Strings concert at the Brewery Arts Center won’t begin until after dinner. Acoustic duo ‘Tully Green’ makes an appearance at Alatte Coffee and Wine Bar. It’s karaoke night at Carson Lanes, Westside Pour House, Beercade, and the Spoke Bar and Grill, so you’ve got some choices. Bread and Butter have teamed up with some special guests and will be appearing as the Lost Mountain Band at the Carson Cigar Co.

Sunday is always ideal for relaxing: comfy pajamas, turkey leftovers, and setting up decorations around the house are all good ideas. The football season is in full swing and you’ll find the game on just about everywhere. You have one last chance to catch the Nutcracker this year, so head to the Community Center this afternoon. Grab the whole family for a free concert at the United Methodist Church. Holiday favorites sung by women’s choir ‘Bella Voce’ will get you in the spirit.
