Carson City GOP Caucus

February 4, 2012 (All day)

The Carson City Republican Party caucus will take place Saturday, Feb. 4 at 900 Mallory Way.

Doors open at 7 a.m. for those who need to "vote and go." The official caucuses begin at noon with precinct meetings at 1 p.m. The vote count is set for 3 p.m.

Enjoy the acoustical sounds of Tyler Stafford, February 4th from 2 – 5pm in the Brewery Arts Center’s Artisans Store. The Reno native has been impressing audiences with his smooth voice and guitar playing talent. Stafford will perform songs from his newly released album “On a String”. The Reno Gazette Journal named it one of the 10 best albums released by area artists this year.

After gaining experience playing open mics around Reno, Stafford became a regular performer at area restaurants and bars. His musical talent, low key stage presence and good looks earned him a large following.

Get out your lucky hat, because the Proscenium Players in conjunction with the Gold Dust West Hotel and Casino in Carson City is about to unveil a mystery dinner show that spoofs the movie “Casablanca” and the American dream of winning the jackpot. Penned by Tony Schwartz and Marylou Ambrose, the show, "Dealt a Deadly Hand: Murder at the Carson City Casino Royale," takes place at Rick’s club, the first legal gambling casino in Carson City. Rick dreams of striking it rich – then two crafty Native Americans try to claim the land and his gold-digging ex-wife Lola shows up.

Greenhouse Garden Center hosting landscape workshop

Greenhouse Garden Center is offering a five-session landscape design for the homeowner workshop.

The by reservation-only workshop will take place 10 a.m. to noon and 12:45-3 p.m. Feb. 4, and from 10 a.m. to noon and 12:45-3 p.m. Feb. 5. A fifth session will be available by appointment only.

Carson City Sheriff's Office, Nevada Highway Patrol are joining forces on Super Bowl Sunday

On February 5th, 2012 The Carson Sheriff's Office and The Nevada Highway Patrol will be joining forces together in the Carson area. This will be a Joining Forces Grant Event. The primary objective is to patrol the Carson area and enforce the impaired driving and speed laws. This is Super Bowl Sunday and we want everyone to have a good time, but remind everyone to use a designated driver or cab service. Our primary concern is to keep the Streets in Carson City safe for all citizens. The Carson City Sheriff's Office has a zero tolerance for impaired driving.

Folk Music Night at Grandma Hatties Restaurant

Carson City's own Slim and Minnie are your musical hosts for folk music night at Grandma Hatties Restaurant, 2811 S. Carson St. on the 2nd Wednesday of every month. It's an evening of familiar tunes and songs including many sing along songs. The show is family friendly with singing along and dancing encouraged. There's also room for wheel chairs, walkers and children in Grandma's big dining room.

2012 State of the City forum

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce presents the State of the City forum on Friday, Feb. 10 at 7:30 a.m. at the Gold Dust West. Scotsman Donnie Macdonald and Irishman James Keigher blend music and storytelling to take audiences on journey to their homelands. The self described Extreme Traditional Celtic Musicians have preserved the emotion and tradition of their homeland songs while at the same time telling new stories.
