June 10, 2013 - 9:00am The Carson City CrossFit Future Athlete Sport Conditioning Summer Camp will run June 10 through July 12.
This will be for all youth athletes playing football, soccer, basketball, baseball, track, cross country, tennis, or want to get in to the Sport of Fitness, CrossFit.
The program will encompass strength training, sport conditioning, kettlebells, tire flips, plyometrics, and sprints. This program is designed for the young athlete to not only get stronger but get better conditioning in during the summer months.

Carson City woman with stun gun in her purse jailed on felony drug charges

Patricia Louise Barkley, was arrested at 12:11 p.m. April 20 on East Nye. According to the arrest report, officers stopped a vehicle based on information that the owner faced a warrant for his arrest.

Man jailed after police foot chase through Carson City restaurant

The man, identified as Tony Clarence Wilson, was tasered on the patio of the establishment located in the 1000 block of South Carson Street.
Wilson faces a felony charge of being a felon in possession of ammunition and misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, and violation of a suspended sentence. The arrest happened Feb. 1 at 8:30 p.m.

Christopher Scholl was arrested at 2 a.m., Thursday in the 1700 block of Fair Way after a foot chase with officers. According to the arrest report, officers were patrolling the area of Empire Ranch Road and Morgan Mill Road. A vehicle entered the Empire Ranch neighborhood and began driving around and came to stop in front of a home on Fair Way.

Douglas County authorities seek help in finding business and residential burglary suspects

The unknown suspects committed burglaries at four separate locations in Douglas County; including a commercial burglary at the Genoa Bar, two burglaries at unoccupied homes in a residential neighborhood in Genoa, and several vehicle burglaries at two local auto repair shops in Gardnerville.

Carson City officers arrest men on felony weapon and drug charges

A loaded rifle "ready to fire" tucked in the front seat of the vehicle, knives and methamphetamine were confiscated.
Dareck Gregory Pollock, 38, of Wellington, and Robert Lee Hill, 37, of Ridgecrest were taken into custody by Carson City authorities after a search of the men and vehicle turned up the gun, knives and drugs.

Carson City roommates fight over computer repair time, one jailed for battery
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 12/24/2012 - 4:59pmA 63-year-old Carson City man was arrested Dec. 22 after allegedly pushing and punching his roommate, a senior citizen, to the ground in an argument over a computer issue.
The victim, said to be at least 65 years of age, went to the Carson City Sheriff's Office at 5:53 p.m. to report the battery. He told authorities that his roommate broke his cell phone in half when he attempted to call police for help.

Carson City man jailed for failing to register as a sex offender

Joshua Sundquist, 28, a resident of the 3400 block of Airport Road, was booked into custody at 9:35 a.m. Dec. 12. Bail was set at $15,000.
According to the arrest report, Sunquist arrived at the Carson City Sheriff's Office after officers were alerted that the home Sunquist had been living was vacant.

Carson City man with California felony warrant from 1993 arrested
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Thu, 12/06/2012 - 5:56pmA Carson City man was arrested Wednesday, Dec. 5, and faces a felony charge of being a fugitive from justice with a warrant for his arrest out of Los Angeles on a drug charge that dates back to March 1993.
Jeffrey Jason Defalco, 40, listed as a postman for his occupation, was arrested shortly after 8 a.m. near Silver Sage and Koontz. Defalco was stopped for speeding when radar clocked him going 37 mph in a 25 mph zone, according to the arrest report.

Carson City woman accused of embezzling $140,000 from CINC Industries

Barbara Jean Larson, 56, was arrested October 9 and faces felony charges of obtaining money by false pretenses, uttering a forged instrument and embezzlement. She is due in Carson City Justice Court on Nov. 6. The woman admitted to stealing and told investigators that she has a gambling problem.

Calling the McKeen Motor Car #70, Virginia & Truckee Railway Motor Car #22, "the best surviving example of the first commercially viable application of internal combustion power in a self-propelled railroad car" the designation possess exceptional value and quality in illustrating or interpreting the heritage of the United States, Salazar said.

Democrats Continue To Outpace Republicans In Voter Registration, Gain 100,000 Edge In Clark County

Today just before noon the Clark County website, which updates registration totals regularly, showed 346,703 Democrats registered to vote compared to 246,479 for Republicans, a 100,224 advantage.

As part of the 19th annual National Public Lands Day, the Carson River Cleanup, hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Carson City and the Bureau of Land Management, will focus on areas around Brunswick Canyon and Prison Hill Recreation area.
To get in on the cleanup, meet at the BLM-Carson City District Office's west parking lot, located at 5665 Morgan Mill Road at Deer Run Road, three blocks south of U.S. Highway 50 on the east side of Carson City along the Carson River, at 8 a.m.

‘Project Graduate’ is reinventing the way new degree and certificate-seeking students are preparing for classes. In addition, WNC now requires advising services to new students before they register.
“It’s changed our admissions process, changed our entire counseling and advising processes,” said Deborah Case, director of Counseling Services. “It’s very impactful in the way we do business for new students.”
