Carson City woman with stun gun in her purse jailed on felony drug charges

Patricia Louise Barkley, was arrested at 12:11 p.m. April 20 on East Nye. According to the arrest report, officers stopped a vehicle based on information that the owner faced a warrant for his arrest.

Third suspect in car chase in custody; found inside school bus at Carson High School

Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies had been searching for the man since Thursday night and found him hiding inside a school bus in the vehicle maintenance yard of Carson High School. Edward Carol, 31, was taken into custody at 5:24 p.m.

One arrest was for witness intimidation and threats allegedly made by an inmate in the city's jail, while another arrest was made after a man reportedly threw a wrench at a Jeep, smashing the window, while a 2-year-old was inside.

Carson City man jailed after attempting to steal shopping cart full of merchandise
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 02/27/2013 - 4:45pmAn unemployed 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday and faces felony charges including burglary and possession of a dangerous weapon after attempting to steal 49 items valued at $741 from Walmart.
Anthony Wayne Harris was arrested in the 3200 block of Market Street at 11:01 p.m. According to the arrest report a cashier stopped the man after he was seen leaving the store with a shopping cart full of merchandise.

Anthony Abruzzo was arrested Feb. 17, 8:28 p.m. in the 3800 block of Carson Street after security from a local department store called authorities about the man was believed to be taking shoes.

Douglas authorities seek help in identifying man who attempted break-in at Walmart
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 01/22/2013 - 6:43pmThe Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying the man shown in the photo above and photos attached below, considered a person of interest in an attempted burglary early Tuesday morning at the Walmart Tire and Lube Center on Topsy Lane, in north Douglas County.
The incident occurred at 2:25 a.m., when the man tried to forcibly enter an exterior rear door at the shop, said Douglas County Sgt. Pat Brooks.

Suspect detained in U.S. Bank robbery on Market Street in Carson City
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 11/19/2012 - 4:34pm6:24PM UPDATE: With a secured warrant, Carson City authorities have begun to look through the vehicle and home occupied by a man detained and being questioned about the U.S. Bank robbery on Market Street at around 3:30 this afternoon. Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said the man has not left the property, remains detained and is being questioned. The owner of the home, apparently the man's landlord, was also speaking with authorities.
Authorities are also said to be at the U.S. Bank site. Witnesses told authorities the man used a handgun in the robbery and left with money. An unconfirmed report via the police scanner early in the investigation was that the money was recovered near a trash bin.
Witnesses said the suspect was a white male, gray hair, in his 40s, wearing gloves and a hoodie.
UPDATE 5PM: Carson City authorities have detained a man and are now questioning him after a robbery this afternoon at the U.S. Bank on Market Street. Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said that a vehicle description and license plate number were secured by witnesses to the robbery. The license came back to the home in the 1000 block of Washington street near Richmond.
The identification, after a wants and warrants search, came back to a man who had a previous conviction of armed robbery, said Furlong. The vehicle matching the description as the getaway truck was found inside the garage of the home and authorities obtained a search warrant to enter the home and the garage.
Update 4:30 p.m.: The suspect has been detained and is interviewed. A search warrant is being secured and deputies prepare to enter the house. Streets in the area remain blocked off.

4:15: Carson Sheriff SWAT team on the scene at a residence at Washington near Richmond where they believe the suspect of this afternoon's bank robbery is holed up. A witness gave deputies a description and license number of the truck that was seen leaving the bank. Deputies then responded to the residence where the truck was registered, and saw the truck inside the garage.

The U.S. Bank on Market Street in Carson City was robbed at 3:28 p.m., Monday. Authorities are responding to the bank, where the robber, described as a white male in his 40s, gray hair, wearing a hoodie and a mask, and rubber gloves robbed the bank of an undermined amount of money, using a handgun or possibly a semi-automatic weapon.

Man in custody after alleged robbery with knife at Walmart

Walmart security reported the robbery 3:50 p.m. on Sunday. Douglas County Sheriff's Office deputies chased the man who ran on foot to the Carson City line and Carson City deputies tracked him to an area near Bodines Casino. He was detained by Carson City deputies at 4:06 p.m. and placed under arrest by Douglas County authorities.

Some new construction is happening in the parking lot of the south Walmart, on the site of the old Mirastar Gas that was torn out some years ago. A little retail center is going up, looks like enough room for maybe three stores. One tenant has been announced; there's a little sign with the logo for Five Guys Burgers.

Carson City Sheriff Kenny Furlong is warning residents to protect their property this holiday season in light of a recent increase of reported thefts committed by drug users. According to Furlong, many of these thefts are being committed by the victims' family and friends, stealing to support their drug habits.

The Carson City School Board gave tentative approval to a new vision statement for the district on Tuesday. The statement reads: “Our community empowers tomorrow's innovators, leaders and thinkers.” The statement is the product of the district's Vision and Strategic Planning Committee after gathering suggestions from community meetings over a period of months. Subcommittees will now investigate setting goals to match the vision statement and make improvements in four areas: Flexibility and choice in curriculum, parent engagement, community partnerships and student health.

The Carson Senators will meet the Reed Raiders on Saturday in Mackay Stadium to decide the Northern 4A football champion. Even though Reed is the favorite, Carson has beaten them two years in a row. The game will be televised on KNPB at 12:15 p.m. Tickets for the game will be available at the gate, $7 for adults, $5 for students.

Every years, retailers keep trying to push the Christmas shopping season earlier and earlier, and this year is no exception. Walmart will open at 10 p.m. tonight, pushing "Black Friday" into Thursday night. Kohl's and Target will open at midnight. Many Carson City merchants will also be offering Black Friday deals.

According to the arrest report, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy responded to the 1300 block of Como Street, where he saw the door to the victim's apartment kicked in. The victim told the deputy that her brother was intoxicated and had kicked in the door. She also said she is not close to her brother, and he does not live in that apartment.

According to the arrest report, the victim said Day was a passenger in a car driven by Chandy Atkins, when the car pulled up alongside, and he and Day exchanged words. The victim then said Day pointed a gun at him and fired once, missing him.

Carson City IHOP shooting: South Lake Tahoe woman among those killed, husband wounded

According to a family friend, Florence was killed inside the restaurant, along with three Nevada National Guard members, while Wally was wounded. A man interviewed by KRNV 4 described how he applied first aid to Wally, while his wife was obviously killed instantly.

Carson City man arrested after allegedly using brother's ID to get out of jail
Submitted by editor on Wed, 07/20/2011 - 4:14amA 29-year-old Carson City man faces a felony charge of false identification after he allegedly used his brother's identification when bail was posted.
Daryl Jacinto Reyes, with a listed occupation as a tattoo artist, reportedly gave authorities his brother's name, date of birth and Social Security number because he had a warrant in the state of Oregon for not checking in with his parole and probation officer after he moved to Nevada, according to the arrest report.
The bail was posted by Reyes sister-in-law, who had intended the bail money, $489, to be used for her husband.

The Carson School District, Carson Middle and Eagle Valley Middle School have decided NOT have any local Carson City business do any of the required uniforms for next year. Instead, they will be done by a company in Reno!
But, if you would like a blank uniform, they hey, you can support Walmart. All the schools in Carson City are wanting the parents and business to support them ... but they will continue to support RENO by sending out money, our tax dollars, to Reno.

Authorities arrest woman after child allegedly left alone in vehicle

Whitney Rose Warren, 22, was arrested at a parking lot in the 3200 block of Market Street on Monday at about 6:20 p.m. The arrest report states that a witness called authorities in reference to a small child left alone in a locked vehicle in the parking lot.

Carson City man arrested after failing to registered as sex offender
Submitted by editor on Tue, 02/08/2011 - 5:18pmA Carson City man face a felony charge of failing to register as a sex offender and was arrested on Monday.
Albert Franklin O'Neal Jr., 35, had been living in a trailer on a ranch in the 7100 block of Schulz Drive for more than three weeks and had not registered in Carson City, according to the arrest report.
The trailer where O'Neal was living in was east of the main residence where he had been recently hired to work doing maintenance as an independent contractor, the report stated.

Carson City man arrested after allegedly slapping, pinching and hitting 2-year-old son with a stick
Submitted by editor on Mon, 01/24/2011 - 3:48pmA 33-year-old Carson City man faces child abuse and domestic battery charges after allegedly slapping and flicking his 2-year-old son in the face inside Walmart and then, according to witnesses, hitting the child with a stick outside the store.
Authorities arrested Bruce Scott, 33, at about 1 p.m. on Jan. 21 after witnesses stated they saw him hit the child multiple times. Surveillance video from the Market Street store was collected in the investigation.

Work begins on Olive Garden

Construction has begun on the site on South Carson Street for the new restaurant, plans of which were finally released to the public last October after years of rumors. I can remember back in the 90s when the scuttlebutt was the restaurant would be located on College Parkway near where the new Walmart is now.
It's looking a lot closer to reality now.

Carson City authorities look for teen who stabbed girlfriend, shot at father
Submitted by editor on Mon, 12/27/2010 - 12:53pmCarson City authorities are looking for a John "Nubs" Linville, 17, who allegedly stabbed his 16-year-old ex-girlfriend, and then shot at her father, Sheriff Ken Furlong reports.
Linville reportedly had been arguing with his ex-girlfriend throughout the day before going to her home at about 9:30 on Sunday night in the 1500 block of Walker Drive, Furlong said.
He allegedly confronted the girl on her porch and stabbed her in the back shoulder blade, causing a minor injury. The girl's father reportedly heard the commotion and confronted Linville, who pulled out a gun. During the struggle, the gun went off and the bullet apparently hit the father in the chest and fell to the floor, causing only a powder burn on the victim, Furlong said. The knife, gun and bullet have all been recovered.
Linville is described as 5' 11" tall, and missing his left arm from a birth defect.

Power outage shuts off traffic lights on South Carson
