Election Updates as Final Ballots are processed in Carson City and beyond

Election Day was June 9 in Nevada, but due to the nature of this year's mail-in election, ballots were still being received for a week following Election Day.

However, all ballots must have been received by Tuesday, June 16 to be counted, and those that arrived must have been postmarked by June 9.

While final official results will be announced by the Secretary of State's Office on June 19, here is an update:

380 students make Western Nevada College fall semester Dean's List

For the second straight Fall semester, more than 370 students at Western Nevada College made the Dean’s List. After 373 students made the Dean’s List last fall, that total was topped by 380 students who qualified for the honor for the recently concluded fall semester.

MINDEN, Nev. — Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies on Wednesday made contact with what appeared to be a disabled motorcycle on State Route 88 near Centerville Lane. Contact was made with the driver, identified as 29-year-old Jesse Martinez.

Carson City Sheriff's SET arrests man for suspected drug trafficking

A 60-year old man was arrested Saturday by the Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team for suspicion of multiple felony drug offenses including trafficking and possession of drugs for sale. Another man was also arrested for alleged drug offenses.

Annual Rock Drilling Competition rocks Nevada Day

Using only a drill bit and a hammer, the annual Rock Drilling Competition wowed and impressed on Nevada Day.

The winner of the competition was awarded to First Place, $2000 – Emmit Hoyl.

The intention of the competition is to attempt to drill the deepest hole possible within ten minutes, with only a steady stream of water to help the drillers excavate.
