The Brewery Art Center to Highlight Nevada’s Paiute History

Explore part of Nevada’s Native American History through the language and the stories of the Walker River Paiute Tribe with Andy Allen on Saturday, May 21st at 2p.m. in Carson City. The performance is part of the Brewery Art Center's “Cultures of Nevada” Matinee Series.

Allen’s captivating stories about his tribe will both entertain and educate. Audience members will also learn some basic Paiute words and phrases. This is a wonderful opportunity for families to experience Nevada’s rich history together.

Idaho Power prepares for osprey arrival

The return of spring signals the return of osprey from their wintering grounds in Central America.
The Salmon River corridor from North Fork to Stanley supports about 40 nesting pairs of these large brown and white birds of prey.

As they are in much of the state, most of their nests are built on artificial nesting structures, which provide the visibility, security from predators, and proximity to water that ospreys need.

William Shakespeare’s tale of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is being performed by the Brewery Arts Center Stage Kids at The Maizie Harris Jesse Theater in the Brewery Arts Center. The story tells the adventures taken by four teenagers who get lost in a magical forest.

Barnett's, Rasner's solid efforts not enough for Nevada

RENO -- It's the nature of baseball. Former Western Nevada College star Brian Barnett and Carson City's Jesse Rasner played well enough for the University of Nevada baseball team, but in the end it wasn't good enough.
 
For both Barnett and Rasner, each were pondering one at-bat that left them thinking about what could have been. And the end result was a 6-4 win in 12 innings for San Jose State against Nevada on Sunday at Peccole Park. The Spartans avoided the four-game sweep after the Wolf Pack won the first three games of the series.
