Director's Note
In this era of difficult financial times and global conflict, I am glad we can offer a bit of an escape back to a simpler time in our lives. I invite you look back and remember when you were 12 years old and perhaps the most pressing and stressful worry was making the grade, trying to get that special boy or girl to notice you, or to find your place in the school yard and be accepted for who you are. In some ways we’re all still striving for those goals. The underlying brilliance of this show is that we learn that winning isn’t everything and that losing doesn’t make you a loser.
I believe in the importance of working together in order to form a coalition of actors from many communities and share the talent that is necessary to produce the best work possible. Our cast and production staff for “25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” is a perfect example of that mission. It is important that we keep the arts alive in our communities and the response and range of talent we received is a clear indication that there is a strong bohemian culture here in Carson City, and surrounding region, that will continue to enrich our lives and our communities.
