The Capital City Arts Initiative announces its exhibition, "ART from WNC", at the Community Development Building [the Brick], 108 E Proctor Street, Carson City. Twenty-one student artists from Western Nevada College, Carson City, have work in the exhibit. CCAI will host an artists’ reception on Tuesday, February 7, 5:30-7pm. Carson City arrests: Man jailed for allegedly threatening adults, toddler with pick axe

A 48-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday for two counts assault with a deadly weapon and other charges after allegedly threatening adults and a toddler with a pick axe, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Senator Square: Students beat teachers in Carson High School dodgeball tournament


The annual Carson High School Dodgeball Tournament took place Dec. 6-16 in the Carson High School big gym during lunch, and both the victory and bragging rights went to the students and not to the teachers.

The competition was fierce with rubber balls flying all over the place and many of the younger CHS teachers strutting their stuff out on the gym floor, battling feverishly to defeat the students.

Not only is the CHS National Honor Society Blood Drive coming up, Oct. 6 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the small gym, but Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval proclaimed Oct. 3-7 to be the “Week of Respect” throughout the state of Nevada.

NNDA announces cosmetic company to expand into Dayton

Northern Nevada Development Authority announced Wednesday that Cosmetic Enterprises Ltd. will expand its manufacturing facilities into Dayton, Nev. CEL plans to invest a substantial amount of new money in their new Lyon County facility while retaining their existing manufacturing plant in Pacoima, Calif.

Something which might not draw a great deal of attention around CHS is the Senior Sunrise, because how many 17-year-olds want to get up even earlier in the morning than they already have to, especially on a Wednesday knowing full well they will not be able to run home first and shower before school begins. Carson City sheriff’s log: Operation on Highway 50 leads to multiple drug arrests

A traffic infraction interdiction operation on Highway 50 West and Golf Club Drive conducted Friday by the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team and the Tri-County Gang Unit resulted in a number of drug-related arrests, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Did you see it? Possible meteor breaks up over skies between Tahoe and Carson City

Carson City Sheriff's Office dispatch received multiple 911 calls Wednesday night reporting a large object, likely to be a meteor, that broke up over the skies above Carson City. Locally, the debris was seen as far west as Lake Tahoe and into the Mound House, Dayton and Brunswick Canyon areas.
