Carson City Sheriff's SET arrests man for suspected drug trafficking

A 60-year old man was arrested Saturday by the Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team for suspicion of multiple felony drug offenses including trafficking and possession of drugs for sale. Another man was also arrested for alleged drug offenses.

Charles William Jamison Jr. was arrested at around 10 p.m. in a north Carson Street parking lot for suspicion of trafficking (4 to 14 grams meth), possession of meth for sale, possession of marijuana for sale, habitual offender, gross misdemeanor possession of a dangerous weapon and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Taylor Adam Monge, 26, listed as a transient, was arrested for suspicion of felony possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing an officer.

According to the arrest report, SET was tipped off Jamison was possibly involved in selling drugs in the area of a North Carson Street casino. The suspect vehicle was located with a man, Monge, seen going to the vehicle, opening the door grabbing an unknown item and closing the door.

Deputies used a canine to conduct a free air sniff of the vehicle, with the dog alerting positive. SET deputies made contact with the two men and were asked to step outside the casino to speak. Jamison denied the vehicle was his, it was registered to a relative and that he had no involvement in drug activity and did not use drugs. He denied consent to search. A records check showed the man is a two-time ex-felon for drug trafficking, the arrest report states.

Deputies applied for a telephonic search warrant which was granted by a Carson City judge. Located in the vehicle was an eyeglass case with 3 bags, totaling 7.4 grams of methamphetamine, a methamphetamine pipe with burn marks, "tooter" straws commonly used for inhaling narcotics and a casino card with the man's name. Also located was a large bag of marijuana, separated into smaller bags, packaged for sales, weighting 50.5 grams. Also found was an illegal slung shot weapon, a baton flashlight, 2 bb guns, a large metal hook on a stick, and a slim jim blade with a razor edge, the arrest report states. Monge was subsequently arrested for suspicion of drug possession, paraphernalia and obstructing a police officer. Bail: $6,544. Bail for Jamison: $75,000.

In other arrests:
— Two were arrested Saturday, 2:17 a.m. in the area of 3100 block of North Carson Street for suspicion of multiple felony offenses. Michael Anthony Bass, 24, of Reno was taken into custody for a felony failure to appear outside agency warrant, a probation violation warrant, parole and probation violation, gross misdemeanor destroying evidence, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstruction.
Also arrested was Rumor Kamille Schilling, 24, for suspicion of felony harboring a fugitive and possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor obstructing and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the arrest report, the Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team responded to a Carson Street motel to serve a search warrant regarding to a fugitive apprehension and drug investigation. Deputies learned Bass was staying in Carson City with Schilling, the arrest report states. Bass had two felony warrants issued for his arrest and was wanted as a probation absconder from Nevada Parole and Probation.

A tactical team went to the location, and with a PA system instructed all occupants to exit the motel room. After 10 minutes, the team made entrance through a window, which revealed the pair hiding in the room. They were detained.

Deputies observed a toilet that appeared to have overflowed several times. It contained a meth pipe and razor blade and appeared the two were destroying evidence, the report states. There was a torn sandwich bag on the floor near the toilet that tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine and is believed the two attempted to flush the drugs in the toilet, according to the report.

There was a digital scale and approximately 150 sandwich baggies in a box, commonly associated with drug sales. There was also methamphetamine on the surface of the TV stand. Three cell phones were recovered along with 5 alprazolam pills on the an alarm clock, according to the report. The two were arrested.

Bass was being held without bail for the warrants and a parole and probation priority 5 violation. Bail for Schilling: $14,049.

— A 33-year-old man listed as a transient, Jesse Lee Rumminger, was arrested Saturday, 10:22 a.m. in the 3700 block of South Carson Street for suspicion of a controlled substance (3 counts), gross misdemeanor possession of a dangerous prescription drug without a prescription and misdemeanor parking in a handicap zone.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called for a welfare check on a subject slumped over a steering wheel. Deputies approached the vehicle, which was parked in a handicap spot, and located with a man with a hypodermic needle and a brown substance suspected of heroin, in his lap. The man was escorted from the vehicle and placed under arrest. During inventory of the vehicle, deputies located a spoon with burn residue, cotton, and hypodermic needles, a container of black tar substance, suspected of heroin.

The man was read his Miranda warning and stated he understood his rights. He stated the substance in the vehicle was heroin. Total bail amount listed: $8,829.

— A 41-year-old Reno man was arrested Saturday, 10:59 p.m. in the area of North Carson and Robinson streets for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI and not having a license in possession.

According to the arrest report, a deputy spoke with the driver and passenger. The driver was asked if he had been drinking, and told the officer he had. He was seen trying to conceal a bottle, the report states. He agreed to standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. He provided a preliminary breath test of .299 and was arrested. At jail he provided evidentiary breath tests with results of .189, .213 and .215. Bail: $1,219.

— A 29-year-old Carson City woman, Katrina Bostic, was arrested Friday, 1:24 p.m.in the area of Dori and Catherine streets for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance (3 counts) gross misdemeanor possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of bail conditions.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the area regarding a person under the influence in a silver sedan. The woman was located in the vehicle, with the woman laying across the passenger seat. The woman identified herself. Dispatch advised she was on alternative sentencing.

She consented to a search of the vehicle, according to the arrest report, where deputies located a small baggie with .3 grams of heroin, prescription medication that she did not have a prescription, a container with rocks and a sticky substance that was consistent with heroin, (the rock/suspected heroin mix totaled 3.9 grams) tooter straws, a baggie of suspected methamphetamine (.4 grams) and a small tin with a small amount of heroin inside, (.1 gram). Inside the vehicle were multiple items of paraphernalia, including a spoon, tourniquet, needles. Total bail amount listed: $14,137.

On Saturday, April 20, Carson City Community Gardeners and the UNR Extension Master Gardeners came together to get the Community Garden ready for the growing season. For two hours they removed weeds, spread mulch and prepped their garden beds for the season.
