Single vehicle accident reported on Spooner Summit near Highway 28 Saturday evening

It is unknown whether or not the vehicle is blocking traffic.
Tahoe-Douglas responders are enroute the area and requested backup from Carson City responders.
Use caution in the area.
COVID-19 hospitalizations on a downtrend in Carson City; rates of infection in children, teens on the rise

However, while rates of transmission for children and teenagers have remained low since the pandemic began, new reporting shows a significant increase in minors contracting the virus, according to statistics.

Juan’s Mexican Grill to open Monday in Downtown Carson City

Owners Juan and Maria Salazar have been running the first location of Juan’s Mexican Grill for years inside the Comstock Casino and this new location, which took over the venue left vacant by Battle Born Social, will be their second.
This is not their first time serving up Mexican cuisine in the downtown area. Juan’s used to operate both inside the old Mo and Sluggo’s (now the Pourhouse) as well as the Horseshoe Club (now closed).
DETR: Regular program claimants continue to transfer to state extended benefits

Through the week ending January 9, there have been a total of 803,738 initial claims filed since the week ending March 14, 2020.

We are also reporting 59 new cases and 52 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 9,842, with 5,109 recoveries and 152 deaths; 4,581 cases remain active.
Vehicle fire reported in the area of Spooner Saturday morning, fully engulfed

Douglas County called Carson City deputies stating that in the westbound lanes heading down the hill there was a vehicle, unknown if it was still moving, that was on fire.
The vehicle is fully engulfed according to dispatch. Whether it is blocking traffic is unknown
Motorists should avoid the area.

Since the week ending March 14, 2020, the first week Nevada saw claims increase due the pandemic, there have been a total of 794,227 initial claims filed.
