Trick or Treating will continue as planned Friday, Oct. 30 in Carson City; other spooky events announced
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Sun, 09/27/2020 - 11:12amBefore COVID-19 hit the capital city, Trick or Treating had been changed to Friday, Oct. 30 since the Nevada Day Parade was falling on Oct. 31 this year.
Despite the parade being cancelled, Trick or Treating is still going to be held Oct. 30 at this time, unless otherwise directed by Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak.

Partnership Carson City hosts Saturday's safe at-home drug disposal day

The sold-out event resulted in 140 golfers teeing off and 9 weightlifters bench pressing to raise over $10,000 for Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and over $3,000 for the Marilyn Elaine Scholarship.

Forest Service beaches, day-use facilities at Tahoe reopen, fire restrictions remain in place

Camping and overnight stays will not be permitted, and campgrounds will remain closed. Resorts will reopen for day-use only. Emergency Fire Restrictions will remain in effect through Nov. 30. People came and went throughout the night, leaving flowers, lighting candles, and discussing the Justice’s passing with other community members.

DETR: Initial Claims Rise Slightly in Regular and PUA Programs; Continued Claims Decline for 5th Straight Week
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Sat, 09/19/2020 - 9:46amFinalized data from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) show initial claims for unemployment insurance (UI) totaled 8,332 for the week ending September 12, up 381 claims, or 4.8 percent, compared to last week’s total of 7,951 claims.
Through the week ending September 12, there have been 686,683 initial claims filed in 2020, 665,031 of which have been filed since the week ending March 14.
