Stolen motorcycle leads Douglas County Sheriff's Office to solve residential burglary
MINDEN, Nev. — Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies on Wednesday made contact with what appeared to be a disabled motorcycle on State Route 88 near Centerville Lane. Contact was made with the driver, identified as 29-year-old Jesse Martinez.
Deputies determined the motorcycle Martinez was driving, had been stolen out of Reno, Nevada on Dec. 17. It was also determined Martinez was in possession of stolen property, from a residence in the 1000 block of State Route 88, that occurred minutes earlier, which the homeowner was not yet aware of.
Martinez, a convicted felon, was taken into custody for possession of stolen property, prohibited person in possession of a firearm, residential burglary, and driving without a valid driver’s license.
Additionally, Martinez had outstanding warrants in Texas, Oklahoma, and Las Vegas, Nevada, for burglary offenses.
Sheriff Coverley stated he was very proud of his Deputies, for being proactive in solving two unrelated crimes, though initially they did not have any information these crimes had been committed. This is an example how the Deputies of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office go above and beyond to protect the citizens of our community.
