— Carson City Fair returns to Fuji Park (all day). 601 Old Clear Creek Rd. The Carson City Fair is back this weekend at Fuji Park following some big changes made by the board. Say hello to the new-but-traditional fair events such as food eating contests for adults and youth, dog shows, 4-H animal shows and auctions, demolition derbies, and a contest called the American Ninja Farmer which is exactly what it sounds like and is sure to be the talk of the fair.

— 24-Hour Agony Ride Fundraiser to Benefit At-Risk Youth (all day). Christian Encounter Ranch of Grass Valley, Calif., will hold its annual Agony Ride Fundraiser this Friday and Saturday, July 26th and 27th, in the Sierra Valley (about 1 hour northwest of Carson City). During the event, cyclists commit to riding their bicycles as far as they can in 24 hours and are sponsored on a per-mile or flat rate basis.

— Karson Kruzers Run What Cha Brung. 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Max Casino, 900 S. Carson Street. Karson Kruzers will host its 34th "Run What Cha Brung" car show beginning Friday, July 26 at Max Casino in Carson City with events the following day at Mills Park. Friday's events and registration at Max Casino will be from 6 to 9 p.m. DJ music starts at 7 p.m. Then on Saturday, July 27 the show will be at Mills Park, starting at 8 a.m. and beginning with breakfast hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Dayton.

— Michael Fischer to speak at Dangberg Home Ranch (all day). He will be speaking about “The Nevada Buckaroo from the Ground Up: His Heritage, Gear and Traditions” Fischer will be here on Saturday, July 27th. Please bring your own seating for all events. No dogs at events; legitimate service animals only. The park is located at 1450 Hwy 88, one quarter mile north of the Carson Valley Veterinary Hospital.

— Fresh and Bountiful: Carson City Farmers Market returns this Saturday. 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the corner of 3rd and Curry St. in Carson City. Enjoy fresh-picked produce, local meats, fresh flowers, artisan baked goods, jams, honey, crafts, live music and Carson City’s smiling faces.This week at the market you can enjoy music by Ricky D., stop by the kids' booth to make your own market bag, we have all the supplies for you. We are excited to see you all again this year.

— Weekend Tot Trek. 9 to 11 a.m. at Carson River Park, 5013 Carson River Rd. Looking for a weekend excursion with your little explorer? Join us for an Interpretive Hike where children ages 5 and under and their parents can hike along the Carson River and discover the beauty of the outdoors. Be sure to wear close-toed shoes, and bring plenty of water & sun protection.

— Carson City church to host clothing drive for school children. 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints church located at 411 N. Saliman Road. The Relief Society, a local women’s service organization of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is hosting the eleventh annual clothing drive to assist families in Carson City and surrounding communities to obtain clothes for school.

— Blood Drive at the Carson City Fair. 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 27 from 10:00-1:30 a Bloodmobile will be by the main Fuj Park exhibition building. — Train to Virginia City from Carson City. Event takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 4650 Eastgate Siding Road. Prices for the ride range from $25-$55. — Guided tours of the Nevada State Capitol. Two separate tours will take place at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. every Saturday in Carson City. Tours typically take an hour and include both the exterior of the building, nearby memorials as well as the interior of the building. Tours are available for up to 20 people on a first-come, first-served basis. The building includes numerous historic artifacts that range from portraits of past Nevada governors to sculptures to historical items showcased during Nevada’s Sesquicentennial celebration. The Capitol remains open to the public Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Guided tours of up to 20 people can be arranged in advance by calling the Nevada State Museum’s Education Program at 775-687-4810, ext. 237.

— Sewing Fair at Veterans Hall. 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Curry and 2nd Street. The Carson City area Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association, A Veteran Support Organization has yards and yards of varied fabric, yarn, sewing notions, supplies and more. — Carson Mall hosts Hot Wheels race. 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 1227 S. Carson Street. Ready, Set and Go: Come and race your Hot Wheels at the Carson Mall in Carson City on Saturday, July 27. Bring your favorite Hot Wheels, Matchbox or similar-sized car and compete against your peers for bragging rights and prizes! We will have a 15 foot downhill race track! Single elimination. No car? — Mormon Station State Historic Park to host Guided Walking Tours of Genoa. 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mormon Station is located in the heart of the Genoa National Historic District, which encompasses over 25 structures and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Join a Park Ranger for a guided walking tour throughout a portion of the historic district. During the approximately one-mile roundtrip walk, we will discuss the significance of the structures located along the route.

— Mills Park Train Rides. 12 to 4 p.m. The Carson City Railroad Association (CCRA) maintains and operates Carson City’s only Narrow Gauge Railroad and Model Railroad Club. The narrow gauge railroad is approximately 1.5 miles long and runs throughout Mills Park, with a duration of about 10 minutes. The two indoor model railroads are an HO and N gauge railroad, located in the CCRA train station at the east end of the park. Train rides are $2 per passenger, and free for children under 2 years old.

— Street tacos and proper margaritas at Sierra Chef. 1 to 3 p.m. Join us for a “Street Tacos & Proper Margaritas” Cooking Class on Saturday, July 27th, 2019 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Sierra Chef Kitchen 2292 Main Street Suites 3 & 4 in Genoa, NV. $75.00 per person.

— Lego Club at the Carson City Library. 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at 900 N. Roop Street. Build self-led creations through hands-on learning with LEGO Education materials. Participants 9 and under must be accompanied by a caregiver of at least 13 years of age at all times.

— Saturday Beginning Wheel Throwing at Ogres-Holm Pottery. 1 to 4 p.m. at 1215 S. Carson St. in Carson City. The Ogres of Ogres-Holm introduce you to clay in this 6-week open start class, including open studio time, is designed to get you started. It’s a great way to relax on a Saturday afternoon. $175 for 6 week session or $45 drop ins.

— History Talk: The Civilian Conservation Corps and Nevada's State Parks. 2 to 2:30 p.m. at Mormon Station Park. The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) played an instrumental role in the creation of Nevada’s State Park system as a whole in the 1930’s. This ranger-led talk will cover the impressive array of projects completed by the CCC crews that were tasked with creating destinations for outdoor recreation in beautiful, yet fairly remote corners of the Silver State. We will also discuss projects completed by the CCC in the Carson Valley area, and attempts to have the CCC reconstruct Mormon Station.

— Toast of the Canyon Train in Virginia City. 5 to 7 p.m. at the Eastgate Depot, 4650 Eastgate Sliding Rd. Journey into the Carson River Canyon on an intimate experience, perfect for date night. Enjoy white wine and appetizers as you travel on a 45-minute trip south of Carson City’s Eastgate Depot. The ride is filled with scenic views of the Carson River and the canyon walls as they echo the sounds of the train whistle. The experience is complete when the “Iron Horse” steams by the passenger cars to reattach to the train to pull it back up out of the canyon.

— Snobs Whiskey Class. 6 p.m. at Battle Born Wine. $50 per person. Space is limited, you must pre-pay.

— Live music at Glen Eagles Restaurant. 6:30 to 9 p.m. at 3700 N. Carson St. Enjoy live music that is sure to make you get up and dance every Wednesday-Saturday starting at 6:30-9:00ish.

— Carson City Demolition Derby. 6:30 to 9:30 at the Fuji Park Fairgrounds. The inaugural demolition derby is sure to be the hot ticket for the fair this year, which will begin on Friday night and end on Saturday. Friday night has two derbies for the evening, the first being for Simerson Construction employees, which will include 12 to 18 cars, followed by an open class, which is open to the community with a nonrefundable $100 entry fee and participants must attend meetings ahead of time. Saturday night has two events, “Survivor Class” that will be the vehicles that survived night one coming back to smash around, and a Minivan Mayhem Class, which is exactly what it sounds like. Watch as minivans crash and smash each other around the arena.

— Levitt AMP Carson City concert features brass-fused, pop and soul headliners. 7 to 10 p.m. at the Brewery Arts Center’s Change Companies Outdoor Amphitheater. The Levitt AMP Carson City summer concert series continues this Saturday, July 27 with two headliners sure to light up the night at the Change Company stage, bringing with them all the flavors of pop, funk and plenty of soul.

— Carson City Ghost Walk returns on Saturday. 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the McFadden Plaza, 310 S. Carson St. For the 27th year, the spookiest historical tour of the capital city is returning this Saturday, June 1 with the Carson City Ghost Walk. The Carson City Ghost Walk is a seasonal historical tour of Carson City’s west side, a walking history lesson with a touch of the supernatural. Some of the stops on the tour include the Bliss Mansion, the Ferris Mansion, the Governor’s Mansion, and the Rinckel Mansion.

— Karaoke at Tommy Knockers Irish Pub. 7 to 11 p.m. at 20 Union St. Can’t carry a tune? No problem! Show off your talent (or lack thereof) at TommyKnockers Irish Pub karaoke night.

— Saturday Night Star Party at WNC. 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Jack C. Davis Observatory. The Jack C Davis Observatory hosts free star parties on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month year round, starting at 7:30 p.m. (except when there is snow on the roads). The evening starts with a lecture on one of numerous topics and concludes with guided star viewing by one of our astronomers. Mike Thomas lectures 2nd Saturdays and Dr. Tom Herring lectures on 4th Saturdays.

— Carson Comedy Club at the Carson Nugget. 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at 507 N. Carson St. Live Comedy every Friday and Saturday night at the Carson Nugget! Doors open at 7:15 p.m. Purchase tickets at the Winner's Club or online.

— Stories Under the Stars. 8 to 10 p.m. at Mormon Station Park. Mormon Station will be holding a “Stories Under the Stars” campfire program on Saturday, July 27th. Park staff will read many of the humorous and insightful stories from the oral history of Harry Hawkins, an early resident of Douglas County. Park staff will also be providing s’mores for participants to enjoy. Participants may bring other food items to cook on the fire if they would like. Participants are also encouraged to share their own stories related to the history of Carson Valley.

— Muscle Powered Sunday Bicycle Ride. 8 a.m. at Fremont Elementary School, 1511 Firebox Rd. Come join Muscle Powered for a free, guided group walk, hike, or ride to enjoy Nevada outdoors around Carson City! Muscle Powered is a local non-profit organization that promotes walking, hiking, biking and trail building. A schedule of all upcoming activities and events can be found at the Muscle Powered website.

— Canyon White at Canvas Cafe. 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Canyon White is at The Canvas Cafe every Sunday 9 a.m. to Noon so come on up and start your day right with some yummy breakfast and Canyon White!

— 'Show and Shine' Fundraiser held for Carson City man in critical condition. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Seeley Loop of Mills Park. A fundraiser is being held for local Carson City man John "JT" Tomaroy, who was involved in a head-on collision while coming home from Las Vegas, and he is now in critical condition at Renown. A "Show and Shine" fundraiser will be held to raise funds for JT and his family on Sunday, July 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Seeley Loop of Mills Park, located at 1111 East Williams Street.

Acclaimed Nevada author Shaun Griffin will read from his new book of essays, "Because the Light Will Not Forgive Me," at the Silver City Schoolhouse on Sunday, July 28, 2 p.m. during a free, public event.

— Veterans Support Group for Women to meet at Mills Park. 1 to 3 p.m. There will be a Women Veteran's Support Group meeting in Carson City. The first meeting is Sunday, July 28, 2019 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Mills Park near the Marv Teixeira Pavillion. For information contact Lyndia at 775-431-0534.

— Artifact Talk at Mormon Station Park. 2 to 2:30 p.m. at 2295 Main Street in Genoa. Many of the artifacts in Mormon Station’s collection were very important items to people living in the Carson Valley area 100-plus years ago. New inventions have made some of these items obsolete, while others are simply no longer a part of day-to-day life for many people. As a result, sometimes the purpose behind artifacts isn’t obvious to us. Join park staff for a talk that will highlight select artifacts in the park’s collection and discuss their purpose.
