Free to the public this three-day show includes something for everyone. Includes home improvement vendors, spas, RVs, ATVs, food trucks and many other local businesses and crafters.

The Carson-Tahoe Home & Garden Show is just weeks away and excitement is building as vendors prepare to offer indoor and outdoor home improvement ideas, and local businesses showcase their products and services. The event will take place at the Carson City Community Center Gymnasium from Friday, May 19 to Sunday, May 21.

Art in Motion presents it's Performance Groups taking the spotlight in Carson City this year for their annual Spotlight Dance Competition. This is a free public event. It happens March 6-8, 5 to 9 p.m. at the Bob Boldrick Theatre, Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St. Carson City. (775) 887-2290.

Jack C. Davis Observatory in Carson City will be hosting a rare early morning daytime viewing event on Monday, Nov. 11 when Mercury will transit in front of the Sun.

Join South Lake Tahoe’s Sugar Pine Foundation and Patagonia at Historic Bowers Mansion Wednesday, Nov. 13th from 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. in the reseeding of sugar pine seedlings to the burn scar of the Little Valley Fire, which devastated nearly 2,300 acres and destroyed 23 homes in October of 2016.

The Silver State celebrates its birthday this week in Carson City and will put on a statehood celebration like no other as Nevada Day comes into full swing, featuring the annual parade down Carson Street on Saturday, a carnival at Mills Park, The La Ka Lel Be Pow Wow at the MAC, activities for adults and kids, contests, delicious food dishes, pancakes, chili and plenty of beverages to suit every wild hair.

It's that spooky time again, when the leaves begin to fall, Nevada Day is gearing up to bring us the best parade in the state, and our little ghouls and goblins are putting together their terrifying and adorable costumes in preparation for sugary chaos.

For the first time ever, the Lahontan National Fish Hatchery will release 5,000 large Pilot Peak Lahontan cutthroat trout into their home waters at Lake Tahoe this Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Over three days, the 12 to 14-inch sized trout will be placed in the water, and the public is invited to two of those historic, interpretive stocking events during the Fall Fish Festival at Taylor Creek.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days, including Hot August Nights Kickoff Rallies in Virginia City, history walks at Mormon Station Park, pickleball at the Carson City MAC, concerts at the Brewery Arts Center and TJ’s Corral, a Muscle Powered Sunday morning bike ride and more!

The historic Comstock town of Silver City, Nev. will host another free, family-friendly public event on Saturday August 3. Kantu Inka will perform on the town’s outdoor stage, the Silver Pavilion, starting at 6:30 p.m.

Kantu Inka is a duo including Carlos Ocampo and Julie Lozada Ocampo. They bring Peruvian culture alive with dance and traditional instruments such as zampoñas, quenas, charangos, bombos, chacchas, and cajón.

Good day Carson City and welcome to Sunday, July 28, 2019. It's the last day of this year's Carson City Fair at Fuji Park. SILVER CITY, Nev. — Acclaimed Nevada author Shaun Griffin will read from his new book of essays, "Because the Light Will Not Forgive Me," at the Silver City Schoolhouse on Sunday, July 28, 2 p.m. during a free, public event.

Come celebrate Carson City’s trails on National Trails Day, Saturday, June 1 at 8 a.m. Carson City will be hosting an event on one of our most recent Open Space acquisitions, 206 acres near Ash Canyon.

Mayor Bob Crowell will say a few words about Carson City’s Open Space program and will be joined by members of the Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department, the Nevada Land Trust and Muscle Powered.

Hello Carson City as we head into Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019 with the force of Monday's wind. Well, what can we say about what's ahead weather wise other than rain is likely down here in the valley but up at Lake Tahoe is another story. The Sierra once again braces for another series of winter storms that are expected to bring several feet of snow, again, through Thursday. On Tuesday, February 26, the Capital City Arts Initiative will present a public event by writer Caleb Cage. Cage will read from his collection of short stories, "Desert Mementos: Stories of Iraq and Nevada." The event is part of CCAI’s ongoing Nevada Neighbors series and will take place at 6pm at the Brick, 108 E Proctor Street, Carson City.

There will be an informal reception for Cage preceding the event at 5:30pm. No tickets needed; the public is cordially invited.

Dancers and artists put Latin American culture on display Saturday at the second annual La Posada Celebration held at Western Nevada College in Carson City.

Today's ribbon cutting for Smart Foodservice at 222 Fairview Drive is not a public event, said Ryan Weedon with Smart Foodservice Warehouse Sales in Portland, Oregon.

Kit Carson Toastmasters Club 2299-39 hosted more than 40 guests and members at its 60th anniversary celebration in September at the Governor’s Mansion in Carson City. The public event showcased the organization’s service in Carson City by providing opportunities for members to improve their speaking and leadership skills.

Visitors from throughout the region stopped in at the Carson City Municipal Airport Saturday to see vintage aircraft at the annual Fly-In Open House.

I hope you got your fill of naps last weekend because this weekend is chock full of fun to be had for all. You can Wine Walk until you Holiday Crawl downtown. Take your pick of craft shows in town. Kids won’t want to miss the Santa Train at the State Railroad Museum or one of the two performances of ‘The Peanutcracker’ at the Community Center. Whether you’d like to spend the days indoors or out, there is something for all ages in the Carson City area this weekend.

David Lee's 23rd book, "Bluebonnets, Firewheels, and Brown-Eyed Susans, Or, Poems New and Used from the Bandera Rag and Bone Shop," was published recently. He's been on tour, reading and teaching at the Cliff Notes Writing Conference in Utah and at poetry festivals in Ohio, among others.
