I Love Carson City’s Weekend Event Summary: March 4 - 5
What a great start to March. A few days on sunshine under our belt and now it’s wine walk weekend. With fingers crossed, the weather should hold out until it’s over, but be prepared for some wind. The Shrine Circus is in Reno, Girl Scout Cookies are on sale, and we inch closer to the longer days and shorter nights of Spring. You’ll find something for everyone this weekend, whether looking for fun with friends, your little ones, or your special someone. Take a look, and have a great weekend Carson City.
SATURDAY:
- Girl Scout Cookie Sales: go to girlscouts.org/cookies to find some near you
- Great Basin Native Artists Exhibit at the Carson Visitor Center (8am-6pm; featuring art by Ben Aleck, Topaz Jones, Jack Malotte, Melissa Melero-Moose, Topah Spoonhunter)
- Coffee and Donuts with EAA Sierra Chapter 403 at 2500 E. College Pkwy (8:30am-12pm, all welcome)
- March Mudness 5 or 10K: Eighth Annual Be Bold, Run in the Cold Winter Trail Series presented by Ascent Runs – Washoe Lake State Park; Take a right after fee kiosk and park in equestrian parking area; Follow walking trail to the east across East Lake Blvd. to the visitor center (race begins 9am; registration $25, students $15 - cash or card only; All runners, whether pre-registered or not, must check in race morning; Walkers are welcome)
- Third Annual Early Childhood Expo at the Boys and Girls Club: 1870 Russell Way (9am-1pm; resources for parents, giveaways, food, activities for children aged 0-6, raffle drawings and entertainment; Special guests Pete the Cat and Clifford)
- Grand Reopening and Free Admission at the Nevada State Railroad Museum (9am-4:30pm; Due to flood damage, the Jacobsen Interpretive Center and Museum Store will be open, but the Annex will remain closed until further notice)
- Breakfast and Bowl at Carson Lanes (9am-12pm; breakfast and unlimited bowling until noon $13, $8 kids 8 and younger)
- 100 Clays Fun Shoot Non-registered Targets at the Capitol City Gun Club: 3590 Arrowhead (registration 9am, shotgun start 10am; $45 shooter, $20 Junior/Sub-Junior, includes lunch)
Ascent Runs presents their final Be Bold, Run in the Cold 5/10K this morning, and it’s the first one in months to feature dry weather. Get ready for upcoming outdoor fun with the Balloon Bonanza sale at Sportsman’s Warehouse.

- WARF Cat and Kitten Adoption Event at Petco on Topsy Lane (11am-4pm; all cats are fixed, vaccinated and micro-chipped)
- Tales and Wags Therapy Dogs at the Carson City Library (11am-12pm; Participants can read to the dogs and will receive a free book; under 9 yrs old must be accompanied by someone 13+)
Show the kids a good time today. They’ll find a patient pooch listener at the Carson Library just waiting to hear a story. Decorate a yummy cookie or a take home Shamrock at Genoa Candy and Coffee. You’ll find acrobats, clowns, lions, and bears at the Kerak Shrine Circus.

- Muscle Powered Weekly Bike Ride - Meet in the south parking lot of Fremont Elementary School, next to the Linear Ditch Trail (meet at 9am; consists of two loops 10-15 miles long each, this will allow a rider to do 10-15 miles or 20-30 miles; ride pace will vary depending on rider level, but usually about 12-16 mph; All riders must have a bicycle in safe working condition, helmet, and closed toed shoes.
