The Capital City Arts Initiative (CCAI) announces its exhibition, "Photo Finished 2021", at the Community Development Building (the Brick), 108 E Proctor Street, Carson City through March 25, 2021.

Thirteen seniors from Carson High School’s Advanced Photography program have work in the exhibit which is available online at ccainv.org.

The community is invited to a "Meet the Artist" gathering this Friday, Jan. 15 to celebrate the art work of Mauricio Sandoval, who has finished the first mural for Friends of Service Helping, also known as FISH, in Carson City.

The Nevada State Museum, Carson City, will showcase an early 20th century gown on Jan. 20, as well as historic Coin Press No. 1 on Saturday, Jan. 16.

The Nevada Artists Association Gallery starts off 2021 with the New Year's Show, a collection of over 65 member entries in categories, including oils, watercolors, pastels, acrylics, 3D, dry media and photography.

Jacqueline Milagros Acosta-Bruno was born Nov. 17, 2002 at Washoe Medical Center in Reno, Nev., to Claudia Bruno and Hector Acosta. She has four younger brothers and sisters, all attending Carson City Schools, as well as a sibling just 18-months-old.

CARSON CITY — Nevada artists who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic may apply through Jan. 29, 2021, for a $1,000 grant to be used to alleviate financial pressures due to COVID-19. Properly completed applications for the Fiscal Year 2021 Artist Relief Grant program will be entered into a process for randomized selection. If application requests exceed funding available, the Nevada Arts Council will prioritize geographic diversity and underserved populations.

This year has been extremely challenging and with the impact of Covid; many of our families are struggling to ensure they can celebrate Christmas. However, generous community members have come together determined to help these families have a Christmas celebration not even Covid can stop.

The Capital City Arts Initiative and Western Nevada College present "Metallum Terrae" an exhibition by Kyle Karrasch in the college’s Bristlecone Gallery, 2201 W College Parkway, Carson City now through Dec. 17, 2020. The gallery is open to the public, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Nevada Builders Alliance, owner of the Bank Saloon, has requested assistance by the Brewery Arts Center to solicit proposals from local artists to beautify the electric transformer box located at their property on the corner of Carson and 5th streets. The owners of the property are looking for designs that will go with the established aesthetic of both inside and outside of the bank saloon.

The Nevada Day Golf Tournament in remembrance of Mayor Bob Crowell will be held at Silver Oak Ranch Golf Course on Saturday. Dozens of fundraisers, including the Benson’s Feed 4 Paws 4-H group, will be scattered throughout the Carson City and Gardnerville areas. Verne R. Horton of Carson City, Nevada passed away at his residence on October 19, 2020. He was born February 1, 1941 in Los Angeles, CA and is survived by loving and devoted wife of 23 years, Brenda; sons Sean and Scott, daughter Debra, 5 grandchildren and brother, Jim Horton.

The Capital City Arts Initiative presents its exhibition, "Relaunch", by artist Mark Brandvik at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery. The exhibition will be in the gallery from October 2, 2020 – January 28, 2021.

Western Nevada College graphic design student Maxine Thew won’t have to worry about her legacy as a young artist.

Starting this fall, her artwork is guaranteed to be seen every day in Nevada going forward and only the future knows when her art will no longer be visible. You see, her “everlasting” art will frequently appear on roads and freeways around the state.
