The Mile High Jazz Band Association recently produced a video, "Virtual Jazz & Poetry: Running Out." The video contains six short acts, each consisting of the reading of a poem and the performance of a related piece of music.

There's a meeting of the Carson Fly Fishing Club at the sheriff's office, a paint and sip night at Living the Good Life and you can join Mile High Jazz Band at Comma Coffee for a 'Fate & Fortune' evening of music and poetry. Heading into the first Saturday of the month and that means wine walk time in Carson City. Join the Downtown Business Association for the March community gathering, which runs from 1 to 5 p.m.

The Mile High Jazz Band with vocalist Jakki Ford will be joined by several poets and readers on Tuesday, March 10, 2020, 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., for an evening of big-band music and poetry on the theme "Fate & Fortune."

Pre-caucus caffeine with congressional candidate Patricia Ackerman. It's a big day! An important day. Patricia will be at Comma Coffee this Saturday, from 9-10 am to offer help in navigating how the caucus works and answer questions about the caucus or just come meet Patricia, the woman fighting to be your next congresswoman.

Happy Saturday Carson City! We have a bunch of great events going on in the region throughout the weekend, so check below to see what’s happening!

Heading into the weekend, there’s a mountain of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the Nevada Artists Association New Year’s Show, and there’s a historical Curry family presentation at the Nevada State Museum. Famed country rock band I See Hawks in L.A. perform at the Historic Silver City Schoolhouse on Saturday. Happenings around town include a book presentation by urban fantasy author SM Reine at the Nevada State Library and Archives, a morning fitness walk and evening hike, dance classes, a meeting of the CCSD board, plus festive December music and more with Night Lights Holiday Jazz and Poetry at Carson City's Comma Coffee. Everyone knows about Black Friday. Major retailers dishing out major discounts the day after turkey day. Lesser known but widely growing is Small Business Saturday, small business’ answer to Black Friday.

This past Sunday, I was asked to speak briefly at Unity of the Sierra about a free gratitude group I run on Facebook. Anyone can request to join by going here. Gratitude is a practice many become just a little more aware of in November. After all, it’s the month of Thanksgiving. However, did you know that gratitude is scientifically proven to create joy and abundance?

On October 2, Comma Coffee located at 312 S Carson St will host Carson City’s “Coffee with a Cop” social from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. “Coffee with a Cop” is a growing initiative across America with over 650 law enforcement agencies in 47 states participating.

Hello Carson City! I’ve been a little out of pocket since Burning Man. I have three sicknesses just pile on: playa lung, a head cold, and I wrapped the whole thing up with bronchitis. Doing life sick was pretty hard. But I found it was made possible by the number of times businesses in this area stepped up and said yes.

Having made it through the first day of school in Carson City, it is onward and upward as we head into Tuesday, August 20, 2019. Events around the area include fitness hikes and bike ride, a free floral design class at Silver City School House, art showings and Congressman Mark Amodei at Casino Fandango. Also featured is the launch of the Jukebox International Film Festival at the community center, a jazz quintet performance at Comma Courtyard and the 115th birthday celebration of Count Basie as part of the Jazz and Beyond music festival. Heading into Thursday, August 15, 2019 we can expect hot weather to continue with high temperatures near 100. Among events for the day, there will be a wreath remembrance ceremony for fallen Carson City law enforcement officers at the sheriff's office, a Muscle Powered morning hike, art showings, and a meeting of the Status of Women in Nevada group at the Carson Nugget. As part of the Jazz and Beyond music festival, there will be an outdoor "Woodstock Remembered" concert at Comma Coffee and a music presentation, "All About that Bass" by Scot Marshall and Friends at the Nevada State Museum.

Come join us at this free and fun event at Comma Coffee in Carson City on Wednesday, August 21 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Bring a friend or a family member or two and join in the creative fun at this Community Art Card Creating Social Circle.

Heading into Tuesday, August 13, there's a galaxy of events lined up, beginning at midnight with a meteor shower watch party at WNC's Jack C. Davis Observatory. When the sun arrives there's fitness events, a book talk at the Nevada State Library and Archives, outdoor Carson City jazz festival happenings at Comma Coffee and Bob McFadden Plaza, family movie night at the library and more.
