Movie Night at the Historical Society of Dayton Valley Feb. 15: 'A Howling in the Woods,' filmed in Dayton

The Historical Society of Dayton Valley is hosting a movie night at their upcoming general membership meeting. The meeting includes brief announcements concerning activities of the Society. The general public is invited. It will be held at the Dayton Valley Community Center at 170 Pike Street in Old Town Dayton. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the meeting starting at 7 p.m.

Reno native Dawn Wells, who starred as Mary Ann in the popular 1960s sitcom “Gilligan’s Island,” died Wednesday of causes related to COVID-19 in Los Angeles, according to her publicist. She was 82.

Carson City's other movie theater needs a little more love

On a recent Saturday night I went to see the James Bond classic Goldfinger at Carson Stadium Cinemas, 2571 N Carson St. I'd seen that movie when it was released in 1964, and I have the DVD as part of a boxed set of James Bond films, but I was thrilled when it appeared on the marquee because there is nothing like seeing a movie made for the big screen on an actual big screen.
