Greenhouse Garden Center in Carson City will hold its Customer Appreciation and Vendor Day on Saturday, June 25, 2022, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Join the festivities with Greenhouse Garden Center vendors, live music and local food trucks at the 2450 S. Curry Street location. Vendors will be here to show appreciation by giving out free samples and information about their products.

The Carson City Library staff is excited to announce a record year for the Books Like Us: Winter Reading Challenge. Carson City patrons were challenged to read 75,000 minutes between Dec. 19, 2020, and Jan. 10, 2021.

Carson City Elks Lodge No. 2177 held a raffle drawing recently for a wooden American Flag. Proceeds from the raffle benefitted Holiday With a Hero, which is a local program that buys gifts for children and delivered by our first responders.

At his most recent press conference, the governor declared many of us as COVID fatigued. The Carson City Chamber has partnered with the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada to temporarily reduce some of the fatigue by organizing a bit of Halloween golf and fun for those who just want to enjoy the outdoors while practicing all the current COVID safety protocols.

Each year, the community gathers along the banks of the Truckee River to watch as hundreds of tiny yellow rubber ducks float across the water, and viewers cheer them on.

Adopt a Duck is one of the Nevada Humane Society’s biggest fundraising events of the year, and this year despite COVID-19, it will continue! However, instead of participants gathering on the banks, this year’s event will be live streamed from the Reno Shelter on August 29 at 12 p.m. and will consist of adorable shelter dogs and cats doing adorable activities.
