Dozens of local non-profit agencies gathered at Our Park in Dayton Saturday during the Our Town in Our Park event.

Non-profit groups including the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, Dayton Volunteer Fire Department, JOIN INC, Dayton Valley Dog Park and the Historical Society of Dayton teamed-up to promote wellness, services and career opportunities to the community.

The Douglas County Leadership class of 2019 is hosting the first annual Leadership Volunteer Expo to provide awareness of volunteer opportunities for children and adults in Douglas County to encourage involvement and promote local organizations in our community through an informational expo.

The expo is scheduled for Thursday, August 22, 2019, from 3:30 -7:00 PM at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center in the Dining Room. This event is free and we will have raffle prizes for participants.

A fashion show sponsored by DV8 Salon Studio to benefit Pets Of The Homeless will be presented at the Governor’s Mansion in Carson City on Saturday, August 17 at 1:30 p.m. Trendy and unique fashions will be featured by Stein Mart with hair and make up being done by DV8 Salon studio, with guest makeup artist Regina Wolford from “Wake up with Make up.”

The monthly meeting of the Carson Fly Fishing Club will be Tuesday, August 13. Come to our club gathering and meet fellow fishing enthusiasts; listen and learn from guest speakers; enjoy a chance to win a prize in the raffle; hear the latest fishing stories and much more.

GARDNERVILLE, Nev. – The Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada hosts the third annual Summer Soiree fundraiser to help build a clubhouse for Carson Valley members, Sunday, Aug. 11, at 4 p.m. in Genoa.

Currently, the Club activities are hosted at Pau Wa Lu Middle School, but due to school events and availability of classrooms, there are many limitations to what the Club can provide to the youth of Carson Valley without having its own location.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days, including Hot August Nights Kickoff Rallies in Virginia City, history walks at Mormon Station Park, pickleball at the Carson City MAC, concerts at the Brewery Arts Center and TJ’s Corral, a Muscle Powered Sunday morning bike ride and more!

Activities ahead include a morning hike, a meeting of the Carson City Board of Supervisors, art showings, a "Pint for Pint" blood drive at the Fox Brewpub, a coin mint party at the Nevada State Museum, outdoor music at Living the Good Life and more. The Carson City Library is gearing up for back to school with an end of summer party on Saturday, August 10. Youth participating in library activities this summer as part of the Summer Learning Challenge are encouraged to dress up as their favorite sci-fi character and join staff to wrap up the summer devoted to space and science themes.

Coins with the famous “CC” mark of the Carson City Mint are coveted by coin collectors and those minted in 1870 — the first year of operation for the Mint — rank highly among them in terms of historic and monetary value.

On Thursday, the very coin press that minted the original will be recreating replicas of the 1870 Liberty Seated Half Dollar in the same building that produced the originals almost 150 years ago.

The Carson City Fair is upon us this weekend, bringing fun new activities that are certain to become traditions for Carsonites young and young-at-heart!

The Carson Tahoe Health Foundation is excited to announce the official date for their annual fundraiser, HopeFest9. The free summer evening concert will be headlined by Eric Hutchinson, the international platinum-selling singer-songwriter, who captures his audience with his lively music set.

The annual fundraiser for the Friends of the Nevada State Museum is set for Saturday, August 3. Member Judi Miller has created another fabulous quilt to be raffled off at the Night with Notorious Nevadans – The Mint Edition fundraising event.

It’s been almost 150 years since the first Liberty Seated half dollar was struck on Coin Press No. 1 inside the U.S. Branch Mint in Carson City — coins made of Nevada silver and bearing the signature “CC” mint mark.

The Nevada State Museum in Carson City plans to commemorate that milestone on August 1 – using the same coin press inside the same building where the original coins were struck in 1870 — with an exclusive Half Dollar Release Party.

The Greenhouse Project’s Concert Under the Star fundraiser held a sold out show at the Eagle Valley Golf Course Wednesday evening for the 11th year in a row.

Carson City Kiwanis will host its 6th Annual Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day event to raise much needed funds for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network as well as the Marilyn Elaine Academic Scholarship.

Join the Friends of the Nevada State Museum on Saturday, August 3 for an evening of Chautauqua in the Nevada Room of the Governor’s Mansion in Carson City. The event will celebrate the remarkable history of the United States Mint in Carson City and the Nevada State Museum.

The Carson City Raiders Booster Club, a family-based group together for 26 seasons and sanctioned by the Oakland Raiders, invites all fans to our annual membership picnic on Saturday, July 13 from 11 am to 3 pm at the Dayton State Park (825 US Hwy 50 East, Dayton, NV). Heading into the Independence Day holiday weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region to keep the next three days jam-packed with excitement.

The Fourth of July will be colored with parades, barbecues, carnivals, concerts and plenty of fireworks around Carson City, Carson Valley, Lake Tahoe and Virginia City.
