This year, Carson Tahoe Health is celebrating HopeFest 10! HopeFest is normally an annual concert and fundraiser event, where many members of our staff, various sponsors, friends and family in our community gather to bring awareness and spread hope.

The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada and Court Appointed Special Advocate are having a community event dedicated to Pokemon Go and family fun. The event includes playing Pokemon Go, a scavenger hunt, a costume contest, raffle prizes, and so much more.

For ages 9-17, join the Carson City Library and Anime Your Way virtually via Zoom this Tuesday, July 14.

Want to learn how to draw anime or improve your technique? Join Carlos Nieto III for an exciting virtual anime drawing program! Supplies Needed: Pencil, Paper, Eraser, old CD/DVD for tracing, a ruler or straight edge, any other preferred art materials you wish to use.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region for all to enjoy. New safety guidelines for the state of Nevada are in effect Friday, so make sure to bring a mask and practice social distancing to local events.

This "great green room" is filled with all kinds of things, but one thing is missing: your favorite childhood book! This book means everything to you, and you will do anything to get it back. Follow the clues, find the thieves and escape with your favorite book!

Summer is in full swing, and recreational activities around Carson City are starting to return in the near future.

From the Carson City Library’s 2020 Learning Challenge, to archery classes at the Clear Creek Bowman Archery Camp, there are several ways for youth to get outside and enjoy the Silver State.

While reading is usually its own reward, patrons who take part in the Carson City Library's 2020 Summer Learning Challenge will also be earning raffle tickets as they lose themselves in a good book, peruse the daily paper or attend a virtual program.

June 4th car show that was going to be at Max Casino has been cancelled but now has been moved to Hampton Inn and Suites on North Carson Street. The even is from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Food truck will be available, discounted rooms for those who wish, 50/50 raffle, music. Open to all cars and trucks.

Join Western Nevada College Foundation and Vice Chancellor Nate Mackinnon on May 21 at 6:30 p.m. for a memorable evening of virtual family fun.

From the comfort of your own living room, you can test your family’s knowledge, compete for fun prizes and interact with your community virtually in the No Brainer Virtual Family Trivia Night, supporting the COVID-19 student emergency fund.

Is this pandemic over with yet? Nope! Not to beat a dead horse, but what is everyone doing with all this time off? For some, time off would be a fantastic development in their busy lives, and for others, time off would be an awful development because they are not able to pay their bills if they cannot go to work.

The point here is clear: Those who need time off cannot have it, and those who have time off do not want it. This is where hope, attitude, and contentment come into play. It is time for a laugh.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. The monthly Downtown Carson City Wine Walk takes place Saturday followed by a performance from Tom Petty and Rod Stewart tribute bands during The Do Drop In’s “A Face in the Crowd” homeless fundraiser at Fuji Park. St. Teresa School will host its 17th annual Crab Feed Fundraiser. Combined with comedy at the Carson Nugget and Brewery Arts Center, the Carson City region is in store for a busy weekend. Heading into the first Saturday of the month and that means wine walk time in Carson City. Join the Downtown Business Association for the March community gathering, which runs from 1 to 5 p.m.

The Michael Furlong Band will rock the Fuji Park Exhibition Hall in Carson City at "A Face in the Crowd," a Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers tribute show this Saturday night, March 7. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the band will keep Tom Petty fans on the dance floor until the show wraps up at 10 p.m.

Lyon County Senior Centers in Dayton, Fernley, Silver Springs and Yerington announced Wednesday that they will be participating in the 18th annual March for Meals – a month-long, nationwide celebration of Meal on Wheels and our senior neighbors who rely on the vital service to remain healthy and independent at home. Lyon County Senior Centers celebrations will include various activities throughout the month of March.

Heading into the middle of the work work, more sunny skies and warm temperatures are on tap for Wednesday with highs in the mid-60s. Activities around town include a yoga class offered through Carson Tahoe Health and Wellness, a midweek meditation series offered at Carson City Yoga, a firearms course, plus Salsa dancing at Yaple's Ballroom, country and pop dancing at Carson Lanes, a safety workshop for women, a Carson Valley Trails Association celebration more.

The thaw continues around the capital city as we head into Tuesday with highs expected in the mid-50s. Events lined up feature morning and evening walks hosted by Muscle Powered, Carson City TRIAD will give a presentation at the senior center on scams targeting older adults. Also on tap, the Carson City Classic Cinema Club presents a Jimmy Stewart favorite "You Can't Take it With You" at the BAC; if you love music, there's Big-Band Jazz X2 at the Carson City Community Center, and you can join Carson Now as it celebrates its 10th anniversary at Living the Good Life.

The Western Nevada College chapter of the National Student Nurses Association proudly presents our annual Spaghetti Feed, this Friday March 6th, 2020 from 5-8 pm.

Price of admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Please come hungry! During our family friendly event we will be hosting our silent auction comprised of items donated by many businesses’ in the Northern Nevada area.

We will also be drawing the winner of our annual 50/50 raffle; the winner will receive 50 percent of the proceeds and the winners of the raffles from years past have made anywhere from $600- $1000.

The Carson Fly Fishing Club will meet March 10, 6:30 p.m. in the Ormsby Room of the Carson City Sheriff's Office.
