Following an investigation, deputies arrested Alexis Jonathan Castaneda for the alleged crime that happened at a Woodside Drive address.

Deputies were dispatched to the area regarding an assault with a deadly weapon. The reporting party stated the suspect lifted a firearm and threatened them and stated they did not know the man. Dispatch then advised the victim and his wife returned to their Long Street residence.

Deputies made contact with the victim and his wife outside their residence. Deputies learned the victim was unloading groceries for a relative when he heard the suspect from the backyard of nearby residence yelling profanities and threatening to kill him.

The victim said the man was holding a long black firearm in his hands. The deputy asked the victim if he was positive it was a firearm. The victim said yes. He said there was another male there who was trying to pull the firearm away from the suspect and was calming him down. The victim said the suspect continued to brandish the firearm and made multiple threats about killing him, the report states.

The deputy asked the victim if he said anything to the suspect. The victim said no and said he had never seen the man before. The victim said his wife exited the vehicle to ask him what was happening. He told his wife to get in the vehicle and later told her what happened. He said the man continued to make threats about killing him and so he left the area, the report states.

The deputy asked the victim what he felt when the suspect was brandishing the firearm and making threats to kill him. The victim stated he felt scared and anxious the man would go through with the threat of killing him, the report states. He said he did not engage with the man because he had his family in the vehicle and did not want them to get involved.

The deputy asked the victim which hand the suspect was holding the firearm in. He said he was unsure because there was a fence. He said the suspect continued to make threats about killing him and raising the firearm at him, the report states.

The victim’s wife told the investigating deputies she heard yelling from the nearby residence. She said she got out of the vehicle and asked what was going on. She said her husband, at first, said nothing was going on but then later told her the man was holding a firearm and making threats to kill him, the report states.

Deputies made contact with the suspect at the residence and detained him. He was read his Miranda rights and was willing to speak. The suspect initially lied about being involved in the incident but later came forward, telling the deputy that a friend came over to the residence and they started talking about firearms and he wanted to show him his rifle. He said they went to the backyard, and showed him the rifle and said that was all that happened.

The deputy asked the suspect if he had made any threats about killing anyone. The suspect said no. The deputy informed the suspect the victim stated he was being yelled at and threatened to be killed by him while holding the firearm, the report states.

The suspect said he never threatened to kill anyone or spoke with the victim. He said he did notice, from his back patio, a person unloading groceries but never spoke with him, the report states.

The deputy asked if he was holding the rifle in his hands in the backyard. The suspect said no and that he had the rifle slung over his shoulders. The deputy asked the suspect again whether he had made any threats toward anyone. The suspect continued to deny it. He was asked where the rifle was. The suspect said he put it in the back of his vehicle. The suspect gave deputies consent to retrieve the firearm from his vehicle.

Based on the information, deputies determined Castaneda was the aggressor and he was arrested and booked for felony assault with a deadly weapon. While being taken to jail, Castaneda made spontaneous comments about how he messed up, the report states. Bail: $15,000.
