There's a remembrance this evening at the 911 Memorial at Mills Park beginning at 6 p.m., hosted by Carson City Christian Ministerial Fellowship. Also today is a health screening available through Carson Tahoe Health and Wellness, art workshops and showings, a farm to fork tour in Douglas County, Wheeled Food Wednesday at the BAC and more.

Here's what's happening Wednesday:
— HeartSmart: Stroke and Vascular Screenings. Are you at risk for stroke or heart disease? Find out with a low-cost screening. Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD), Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA), and plaque build-up in carotid arteries are all treatable when caught early. Take charge of your health through low-cost HeartSmart screenings today. Total cost is $75, includes Bilateral Carotid Ultrasound, Aortic Ultrasound, EKG and Ankle-Brachial Index for PAD. — Capital City Arts Initiative Presents: Graphically Defined. 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at BRIC, 108 E. Proctor St. Capital City Arts Initiative (CCAI) is delighted to present Graphically Defined, a group exhibition of work by seventeen Western Nevada College students. This exhibit includes a wide variety of art including ceramics, drawing, graphic design, painting and photography that shows the diversity of the students’ creativity. The Business Resource Innovation Center (BRIC) is open Monday-Friday 8:00-12:00 p.m. and 1:00-4:00 p.m.
— Capital City Arts Initiative Presents: New Crop 2019. 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Carson City Courthouse Gallery, 885 E. Musser St. The Capital City Arts Initiative (CCAI) presents its exhibition, New Crop 2019, by artists Mark Combs and Frances Melhop.
— Open Studio Painting at the Brewery Arts Center. 9 a.m. Work on your own paintings from subject matter you chose for yourself. The instructor will provide one on one instruction throughout the class. Students may use oil, acrylic, or watercolor paint. Dry media is also welcome. Bring your own supplies and source materials (such as photographs or drawings you wish to paint). This in an open enrollment drop in class so there is no need to enroll in advance. Classes: 9:00-12:00 or 12:30-3:30. $25 per session or $40 for the day, payment made to instructor. For more details contact the Brewery Arts Center here or by calling 883-1976.
— Farm to Fork Tour in Douglas County. 10 a.m. Join in for a Farm to Fork Tour in Douglas County on Wednesday, Sept. 11. Planned and hosted by University of Nevada Cooperative Extension Educator, Lindsay Chichester.
The day will begin at 10am at Jacobs Family Berry Farm with a tour and berry tasting, followed by a steak lunch at JT Basque, a tour and tasting at Bently Heritage, and conclude with a Bently Ranch Tour.
Chichester received a Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) grant, which will cover $20 of fees per person, making the entire day cost only $45 per person. "This is a great way for people to learn more about agriculture and sustainability in Douglas County. Plus it is a great way to meet new people and visit some great local and family-owned businesses in the Carson Valley," says Chichester. — Nevada Artists Association Art Gallery Autumn Membership Show, now through Oct. 18. Enjoy artwork from our member artists. Membership has risen to nearly 150 local artists during our 40th year operating as a gallery. The Autumn Membership show runs from Sept. 8 to Oct. 18 at Nevada Artists Association Art Gallery at 449 W. King Street in Carson City. Open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. Also, save the date, Nov. 3 we will be hosting our 40th Anniversary Celebration on location at the Gallery, 2-4 p.m. Please join us in marking this historical occasion.
— Basic Pottery Skills at Ogres-Holm Pottery. 1 to 4 p.m. Studio manager, Lucas Lamont, introduces you to clay, in this 6-week open start class, designed to get you started with clay. The syllabus includes pinch pots, coil pots, sculpture, and an introduction to wheel throwing. $175 for 6 week class including open studio times or $45 for drop in classes. 1215 S. — Wine and Dine Watercolor Classes. 4:15 to 5:45 p.m. Students get a reminder text each week. Drop in basis — no monthly commitment necessary. — Carson City's Wheeled Food Wednesday at the Brewery Arts Center. 5 p.m. The Brewery Arts Center campus in Carson City is alive Wednesdays this summer with the best food trucks around for a tasty midweek alternative. Wheeled Food Wednesday returns from 5 to 8 p.m. The BAC will have kid’s activities, plus beer and wine selections for adults. The Brewery Arts Center campus parking lot is at 511 West King Street.
— Always Remember, Never Forget: Carson City 911 remembrance Wednesday at Mills Park. 6 p.m. here will be a September 11 memorial event at Mills Park in Carson City this Wednesday. The service will take place at the 911 memorial beginning at 6 p.m. The event is hosted by Carson City Christian Ministerial Fellowship. Guest speakers are Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell, Sheriff Ken Furlong, Carson City Fire Chief Sean Slamon and pastors from local ministry.
— Spanish Night, Salsa Dance Lessons in Downtown Carson City. 6 p.m. SALSA Wednesdays located at Yaple's Ballroom Dance Studio, 315 N. Carson St. Carson City. Classes are 6 pm Intermediate Level Class, 7 pm Beginning Level Class. Just $10 a class. Then after your dance lesson, just for us food and drink specials offered across the street at Battle Born Social! The dance floor is open, music will be playing and you can continue dancing and practicing your dance moves! The Salsa Social will cost NOTHING, only but your support to the restaurant and bar.
