The weekend is not only around the corner but the roar of Street Vibrations arrives today, Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018, at Battle Born Harley-Davison in Carson City. Among today's other featured events are a Muscle Powered hike, a talk about time management strategy at Rustically Divine and a reading of "Alice in Wonderland" where the Carson City Library is highlighting those celebrated book classics that have been banned at one time or another in history. — Thursday Hike to Clear Creek Trail-Upper End hosted by Muscle Powered. 8 a.m. Come out and join Muscle Powered for free hikes each week to enjoy Nevada outdoors! Meet in the Highway 50 Park and Ride where we will carpool up to the starting point off of Golf Course Road. Bring a friend and/or friendly dogs. All hikes are 2-4 miles with duration of about 90 minutes, sometimes with elevation gains of 500’ or more. Water and sturdy or athletic shoes are required. Hat, sunscreen and hiking poles recommended. Some trails are dirt and others are paved.
— Coffee Connections to discuss time management strategy at Rustically Divine. 9 a.m. On Sept 27th, we will discuss a time management system that separates high performers from the average Joe. Join Coffee Connections, Thursday mornings, at 9 a.m. at Rustically Divine, 410 N. Carson Street in Carson City. Expand your network and your way of thinking. Space is limited. — Cardio and Strength Connection class offered at Carson Tahoe. 10 a.m. If you've had problems with your heart, or have diabetes, a healthy lifestyle is the best way to get you feeling like you should. We've created Cardio & Strength Connection to help you develop a healthy exercise program in a safe and comfortable environment. Monthly cost is $10. Thursday classes are held at Carson Tahoe (1470 Medical Pkwy, Suite 250) from 10 to 11 a.m.
— Street Vibrations Action begins today and runs through the weekend at Battle Born Harley Davidson in Carson City. Among the many features, including free admission, are 45 vendor booths, six food trucks, a pit barbecue, a very large beer garden, stunt shows, a poker run and more. On Thursday night, 6 p.m. is the Tahoe Blue Kick Off Party Concert, featuring Valentine Rodeo from 6 to 9 p.m. Other concerts on tap through the weekend including bands Everyday Outlaw, Tripping Kingsnakes, Greg Austin Band, Mudd Bonz, Cash Only Band, Mo Beach band and others. — Celebrate Banned Books Week at the Carson City Library, Alice in Wonderland Style. 6 p.m. Help Carson City Library celebrate the freedom to read by honoring one of our favorite banned books: "Alice in Wonderland." Join us for "Alice in Wonderland" inspired crafts, activities, and a costume contest! Don't be late for this very important date! Supplies are limited. — Carson City group offers support, education to parents with children who have addictions. 6:30 p.m. PAL (Parents of Addicted Loved Ones) is a support group of parents helping parents. We meet every week to offer education and support for parents or spouses dealing with an addicted family member. The group meets Thursday nights, 6:30 p.m. at the Carson City Fire Station 51 meeting room, 777 S Stewart St.
— Carson City Republican Party hosts membership meeting to discuss statewide ballot questions. 7 p.m. The Carson City Republican Party will hold its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, Sept. 27, 7 p.m. at the Carson Nugget. We will discuss all 6 of the statewide questions on the ballot with different speakers giving input. Come early at 6:30 p.m. for our social time before the meeting at 7 p.m. Carson Nugget, Comedy Club Room, 1st Floor, 507 N Carson St.
— Richy Rich Live, tonight at Living the Good Life, 7 to 10 p.m. 1480 N Carson St., Carson City. Enjoy the music of Richy and food and drink specials throughout the night.

— Daily through September, Muscle Powered is holding a membership drive to recruit new members. All new and renewing members in the month of September will be entered in a drawing to win a Gregory Hiking Day Pack.
Muscle Powered works to make Carson City healthier for all citizens and safer and more accessible for bicycling and walking through education and advocacy, the promotion of bicycle and pedestrian friendly infrastructure, and developing and maintaining recreational trails throughout the city. Muscle Powered is also responsible for organized weekly walks, hikes and bike rides, on and off road, throughout Carson City. Go here to learn more and sign up.
— Carson City Art Gallery & Pottery Mid-Month Artist Reception: Roger Freeman, 11 to 5:30 p.m. Carson City Art Gallery’s Artist of the Month for September is Roger Freeman, a multi medium artist living and working in the Carson City area. During his reception you will be able to meet him and talk to him about his wonderful work. 110 S. Curry St. Carson City.
— Student Art Exhibition: The Wind Calls, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Capital City Arts Initiative (CCAI) announces it’s exhibition, The Wind Calls featuring nine University of Nevada, Reno, students’ work. The free exhibition is available to the public through October 9, 2018, Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – noon and 1:00 – 4:00 pm. It is held at the BRIC, 108 E Proctor St., Carson City.
— The Wind Calls includes work by Mahedi Anjuman, Nicki Bracco, Mark Combs, Teal Francis, Hannah Huntley, Gwaylon Leaf, Frances Melhop, Ally Messer, and Carla Miller. The artists used a wide variety of art media including mixed media, ceramics, sculpture, painting, printmaking, and photography to make their art and comments on contemporary life and society.
— The Capital City Arts Initiative, also known as CCAI, presents its exhibition, "Jenny Raven: The Creative Growth Years 1979 - 1984" with artwork by artist Jenny Raven in the city’s Community Center Sierra Room, 851 E William Street, Carson City. The exhibition is available to the public through October 18, 2018. The Sierra Room is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
— Visual Oasis: Works from Creative Growth, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Capital City Arts Initiative presents “Visual Oasis: Works from Creative Growth" at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery in Carson City. The exhibition, with art by 17 artists, will be in the gallery Monday through Friday until Sept. 27, 2018. The Courthouse is located at 885 E Musser Street, Carson City. The gallery is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
— Live Music at Glen Eagle Restaurant, Live Music Wednesday starting at 6:30 and continuing until 10 p.m. 3700 N. Carson St., Carson City.
