"I don't think the NFL is going to have a problem," said Herm Edwards, former Kansas City Chiefs head coach, now an NFL analyst for ESPN. "Is there going to be a vote of confidence in the locker room? For some of the younger and immature players, but the veteran players — they get it."

Easter Egg Hunt at Carson High School, Centennial Park

Capital Christian Center will host a city-wide Easter Egg Hunt at Carson High School Saturday, March 30, beginning at 10 a.m.. There will be more than 12,000 eggs for the hunt, a holiday ham give away and pictures with the Easter bunny.
They will also be using the time to “beautify” the CHS campus as with 150-plus volunteers to pull weeds, rake, sweep, etc.

February 22, 2013 (All day) The third annual Austinpalooza was a night of food, music and festivities that culminated in over $8,500 in funds raised for Austin’s House and the Society of Women Engineers at University Nevada, Reno. The event, organized by GE’s Measurement and Control employees in Minden, was held Friday, February 22, 2013, at Jethro’s Bar and Grill in Gardnerville, Nevada. Both charities rely heavily on support from partners, like GE, to sustain operations.
Firefighters get handle on brush fire from escaped pile burn off of Spooner near Old Clear Creek
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Thu, 03/21/2013 - 7:31pmUPDATE 8:08 PM: Carson City firefighters at the scene of a brush fire off of Old Clear Creek and Tahoe Golf Club Drive report they have a line around the fire, which was reportedly from a burn pile in the area that began to spread. It is unknown if the pile burn was from controlled fire operations by the U.S. Forest Service. The size of the fire was reported to be about a quarter acre.
Firefighters report to have extinguished flames that had burned outside the burn pile area.

Carson City sheriff's officers make several weekend felony drug, battery arrests

Former Carson City manager Linda Ritter nominated for CCCVB interim director position

Carson City Convention and Visitors Bureau director Candy Duncan to retire

She will officially retire on Jan. 1, she told the board in a letter. During her tenure, Duncan oversaw the transformation of Carson City as a travel destination, changing the tourism paradigm by highlighting the area's rich history and modern amenities as attractive attributes to luring visitors to the capital city.

Motorcycle crash reported off of Clear Creek and Lake Tahoe Golf Club Drive

The accident was reported to be near Lake Tahoe Golf Club Drive. Care Flight has been called. The accident was reported at 3:46 p.m.
The rider is male, approximately 200 pounds. His condition is unknown at the time. The Nevada Highway Patrol is responding.

Annual Carson City turkey shoot on October 21

The Clear Creek Bowmen of Carson City, a local archery group, will host its annual turkey Shoot on Sunday, October 21. The annual event will be held at the Centennial Park archery range, which is east of the Eagle Valley Golf Course. Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m.
Registration fee is $20 for an adult and children are free. The turkey shoot will begin at 9:00 a.m. The contestants will be shooting at a total of 35 3-D targets at unmarked yardage.

Edgewood Lodge project unanimously approved by Lake Tahoe planning leaders

The governing board of the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency unanimously approved the Edgewood Tahoe Lodge and Golf Course realignment project that will make way for the 154-room lodge. Construction could begin in 2014, according to the Tahoe Daily Tribune.

Pablo Cruise headlines A Concert Under the Stars Wednesday

Jenkins performed four years ago for the inaugural event, which takes place at Café at Adele’s, but his love of music began at a tender age.
“My folks had an old pump organ and I couldn’t reach the pedals,” Jenkins said. “I’d play and my sister would pump the pedals for me; I always had an ear and a love for music.”

Supervisors to tackle Nugget Project ballot question, golf course audit, collective bargaining agreements on Thursday

The biggest and possibly most contentious item will be the final approval of the Carson City Center aka Nugget Project ballot question. The City Center aka Nugget Project ballot question will go before the Carson City Board of Supervisors for discussion on June 7.
The board last month directed staff to work on wording for a ballot question to seek approval from voters for a quarter cent sales tax increase to fund the project. Now that question will be coming back to the board to decide whether to place it on the ballot.
