The Brewery Arts Center is proud to present a new exhibition in the Artisan Gallery, the works of Adam Whitney. After re-imagining the space formerly a full time artisan store for traveling exhibitions, the BAC is offering temporary showcases of the works of local artists in between the exhibitions from out of the area. Having recently closed the popular Snoopy and the Red Baron Exhibition on loan from the Charles M. Shultz Museum in Santa Rosa, CA they have created a new show focusing on the themes of acceptance and healing with the art of multi-talented Adam Whitney.

Imagine it’s early September and you are strolling down a lovely shaded street in Carson City Historic District, or perhaps one of our beautiful open space trails and you see a quintessential French scene: an artist at an easel, their painter’s palette loaded with color and their attention focussed on a delightful viewscape you’ve walked by a hundred times.

Art Gallery @ Prism, in Carson Valley, is a contemporary space for Sierra Nevada Regional artists to have their work exhibited. Our goal is to provide visitors a fresh experience to a fine art exhibition gallery.

The Carson City Department of Arts & Culture in partnership with First Lady Kathy Sisolak on Thursday proudly announced its inaugural Arts Initiative exhibition, “The First Lady Presents … Ronnie Rector,” at the Nevada Governor’s Mansion.

Heading into the last Monday of January 2020, we're looking at sunny skies and a warm-up, with highs in the low 50s. Activities around the capital city include a a luncheon highlighting the campaign of Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren, a free Partnership Carson City Yoga class at the Carson City Community Center, art activities and showings, swing dance lessons at Carson Lanes and more. Returning from the holiday weekend, activities Tuesday around the capital city include the weekly gathering of the Carson City Toastmasters at Max Casino, a fundraiser at Pizza Factory in Carson City for a lifelong local and coach who has been ill, art showings and more.

Heading into Monday and the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday we're looking at cloudy skies with a daytime high around 50 degrees. City, state and federal offices are closed as are schools. Friends of the Carson City Library's Browser's Book Store at 711 East Washington St., is open from noon to 5 p.m. Activities around the capital city include a canyon area cleanup hosted by Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space, a luncheon highlighting the campaign of Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang, swing dance lessons and more. The first significant winter storm of 2020 will be blowing into the region Thursday afternoon, bringing gusty winds, heavy snow in the Sierra and 1-2 inches of snow possible in the lower valleys. Events lined up include a meeting of the Carson City Board of Supervisors, art showings, the kickoff of an After school Art 2020 program at the BAC, the 2020 Winter Reading Challenge at the Carson City Library and more.

Enjoy the sunny weather and a brief calm Wednesday morning through early evening before gusty winds blow into the region overnight, bringing rain and snow to the valleys and heavy snow to the Sierra by Thursday. Heading into Thursday, today is Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. Across the country on January 9 each year, citizens take the lead to show support on National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. Law Enforcement Officers of every rank and file have chosen a profession that puts their life on the line every day for their communities. Thank you law enforcement. CARSON CITY — The Nevada Arts Council announced the awarding of $22,639.60 in statewide grants to support individual artists in the production and presentation of artistic projects that will occur between Jan. 1 and June 30, 2020.

We're looking at highs in the upper 60s. Heading into Memorial Day, May 27, 2019, we urge all to take time out of your day to honor those who served and died defending our country. Memorial Day is the day we celebrate those men and women who passed while serving in the United States Armed Forces. There are events Monday in Carson City at the Stewart Indian School Cemetery and at Lone Mountain Cemetery and in Fernley at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

As we head into Tuesday, May 21, 2019 there seems to be some debate brewing about the weather. Is the persistent series of cold weather systems normal or not? We spoke with a forecaster from the National Weather Service about it and he noted that everyone has an opinion. Some folks swear this happens every Spring, storm after relentless storm through the entire month of May.
