Thursday, March 26: Things to do in Carson City
It’s Veterans and Military Day at the Legislature today, complete with a display of the various services available to our Veterans set up in the front foyer. On this day in 1982, a ground-breaking ceremony was held in Washington D.C. for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Carson City has a Vietnam Veterans Memorial of its own located in Mills Park. The memorial will be the site of a Welcome Home Celebration this Saturday for Vietnam Veterans Day. Go here for more information.
If you find yourself in Reno, I suggest you swing by Lawlor Events Center. Students from every county in Nevada are displaying their science fair projects at this year’s Western Nevada Regional Science and Engineering Fair. I’m not sure you’ll get a chance to see all 1200 of them, but you can sure try.
Go Wildcats! Today kicks off a four game series against the Community College of Southern Nevada. Catch baseball fever at the Harvey Field located at Western Nevada College
Nevada State Museum hosts a monthly lecture program and this month welcomes historian Jim Bonar. Bonar will speak about the 1919 military convoy across the country to fortify the defenses of the west coast and has a video of the crossing. Museum members may attend for free, everyone else must pay admission. Early arrival is recommended.
