Local scientist donates 550 thermometer watches to Carson City STEM school

The wearable technology, costing less than $10, is designed to monitor the temperature of the wearer and indicate if they are running a fever.

Douglas County sheriff's officer shot, flown by Care Flight; 2 suspects in custody
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 12/21/2020 - 12:48amUPDATE: From the Douglas County Sheriff's Office Facebook page: On Dec. 20, 2020 at approximately 11:15 p.m. an officer Involved shooting occurred in Douglas County NV near Douglas Ave in Gardnerville, NV.
The incident is currently under investigations and no suspects are outstanding. The Suspect is currently being treated at the hospital for injuries. Highway 395/Gillman to Waterloo remain closed. The Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to please avoid the area. More information will be released when it becomes available.
The Carson City Sheriff's Office will be the lead investigation agency, as protocol for officer involved shootings to have an outside agency investigate, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong. There are two suspects who were in a vehicle, a male and female, who were involved in the incident. Both are in custody, said Furlong. The condition of the injured officer is unknown at this time.

A Douglas County sheriff's officer was shot and suffered serious injuries late Sunday night following an incident in Gardnerville. Two suspects are in custody, according to dispatch reports.

Ladder 50 is a tiller driven truck with an aerial ladder that extends to 107 feet. For over 10 years the department struggled with multistory structure fires without the use of a ladder truck, a very critical element of response, a need that until today would only be fulfilled with mutual aid assistance from neighboring counties.
