Labor Day weekend always seems bittersweet. Sure, it’s a three day weekend and a great time to bar-be-que, camp, or enjoy friends and family. It also marks the end of the summer. Everyone has gone back to school, and the autumn crisp is beginning to sneak in. No matter where you roam this weekend: north, south, east, or west there is fun to be had. Or stick around town and enjoy the many things that make Carson City unique.

- CCAI Exhibit: BRIC Art 5 at the BRIC: 108 E. Proctor St. (8am-12pm and 1pm-5pm)

- Heavenly Village Days Car Show in South Lake Tahoe (Events also include poker runs, demonstrations, sidewalk sales from merchants, food and live music)
- Flashback Friday Museum Days in Virginia City (All Virginia City museums have waived admission, but donations are encouraged when you pick up the map at the Virginia City Visitors Center)
- Virginia and Truckee Round-trip Steam Train Ride: leave from Carson City Eastgate Depot on Flint Drive, off U.S. Highway 50 East at 10am and Depart Virginia City Depot at 3pm (tickets limited, $52, seniors and veterans $48, kids 3-16 $32, arrive 30 minutes early)
- Kids Ride Free Friday on the Virginia and Truckee Steam Train (code kidsfree online ONLY on www.vtrailway.com; one kids ticket with the purchase each adult ticket; ages 3-16)
- Starbucks Coffee Tasting at Carson Tahoe Medical Center (10am-11am; free)
