Carson High School Uniform Debate
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Fri, 03/22/2013 - 1:09pmWhy am I opposed to school uniforms at Carson High School? It’s a lengthy answer and so I’ll try to condense it. We live in a small town, with limited selection to stores. We have Wal-Mart, Target, JCPenny, and Kohl’s. We have access, in Reno, to those listed plus several more, but only a fraction of the stores that you would have in a big city. My daughter has been in the current SSA “uniforms” at the middle school for the last 2 years. Additionally I have a buying background in the fashion industry for 8 years, so I have that perspective to my argument as well.

Legalized sports wagering elsewhere might not affect Nevada much
Submitted by editor on Sun, 01/06/2013 - 7:42amLawmakers from across the country are contemplating whether it’s worthwhile to move into a domain that’s been almost exclusively Nevada’s since 1949 — legalized sports wagering.
But a top Las Vegas race and sports book director says that even if other states cleared the numerous legal and legislative hurdles to offer betting on sports in their states, it probably wouldn’t have a big effect on Nevada.
Graham's Word: Chris Ault Steps Down At Nevada
Submitted by Chris Graham on Fri, 12/28/2012 - 7:10pmChris Ault, the Godfather of the “Pistol Offense” has decided to step down from his position as head coach of the Nevada football team. As I stated in my previous article, I believe that he is the best coach for this program but in the back of my mind I saw this change coming. With the way the program has gone the last couple of years after Colin Kaepernick left, and with his staff diminishing under him it was only a matter of time.
Graham's Word: Ault Is The Best Coach For Nevada Football
Submitted by Chris Graham on Wed, 12/19/2012 - 1:19pmChris Ault has been a very successful coach for Nevada. Yet, every time Nevada Football has a ‘less-than-impressive’ finish to the season, some fans call for him to leave or be relieved of his position.
Let’s take a look at just exactly what Ault has done for the Nevada Football program:
He has been the Head Coach for 28 seasons. In those seasons he has compiled a 233-109-1 overall record. Ault has only had three losing seasons. Three. He has led Nevada to nine conference titles. Under his belt, Nevada has been to the postseason 17 times and that includes a current 8 year streak.

Graham's Word: Time Stands Still Today
Submitted by Chris Graham on Fri, 12/14/2012 - 12:16pmCertainly there are things in this world that are bigger than sports. Unfortunately, today in Newtown, Connecticut a shooting at an elementary school has happened. It is unthinkable and unimaginable. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of those affected by this horrific tragedy.
In today’s world we ask ourselves over and over again why, and more often than not, we never seem to find the answers.
I hope that we all come together at this time for the victims of this tragedy. Please hug and hold close your loved ones every chance you get. Today is a day of mourning and grieving.

Getting a Tune-Up
Submitted by BikeCarson.com on Tue, 12/11/2012 - 7:22pmRegular readers of BikeCarson.com may have noticed that there have been far fewer postings lately. I suppose an explanation is warranted, because I don’t want you to think that I have lost interest in cycling, as this is not the case. I haven’t been riding my bike though, and it’s awfully hard to write about something I’m not actively engaged in. After years of tuning-up my bike, it was time to tune-up my body.
