The 2026 Nevada primary election is Tuesday, June 9. Carson City’s in-person voting is from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., at the the Community Center Gymnasium, 851 East William Street and the Stewart Community Wellness Center, 465 Clear Creek Ave, Carson City.
Under Nevada law, local nonpartisan primary races are skipped if two or fewer candidates file for a single seat. Since this happened across all Carson City municipal seats, there are no local government offices on Tuesday’s primary ballot. Instead, those candidates advance directly to the Nov. 3 general election.
While local races are skipped during the primary, Carson City voters who are registered with a political party (or voting in nonpartisan statewide races) will see federal and state-level primaries on Tuesday’s ballot, including races for Nevada Governor (Both Parties), Nevada’s 2nd Congressional District (Both Parties), Assembly District 40 (Republican), State Senate District 16 (Republican), Lieutenant Governor (Democrat) State Treasurer (Both Parties) State Controller (Democrat), Secretary of State (Republican), Attorney General (Both Parties.)
Statewide, the ballot this year includes races for statewide office, including governor and attorney general, the state’s four U.S. House seats and the state Legislature. People registered as nonpartisan or with a minor party are not allowed to vote in partisan primaries, such as the Democratic and Republican primaries for governor. But they can vote in other contests in which candidates don’t declare a party affiliation, including many local government and judicial races.
Unofficial results will begin publishing Tuesday night on the Nevada Secretary of State Results Portal here.
