Here's what's happening Thursday:
— Capital City Arts Initiative to present 'Impact' exhibition featuring Lake Tahoe artist Paula Chung. Daily through May 28. The Capital City Arts Initiative presents its exhibition "Impact" by artist Paula Chung at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery in Carson City. The exhibition will be in the gallery through May 28, 2020. The Courthouse is located at 885 E Musser Street, Carson City. The reception and the exhibition are free and the public is cordially invited. The gallery is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Paula Chung’s Impact works address violence on sports fields, battlefields, and the streets. Through the use of medical imagery, she illustrates how violence affects us all.
— Capital City Arts Initiative presents 'Photo Finished 2020' exhibition. Daily. The Capital City Arts Initiative announces its exhibition, Photo Finished 2020, at the Community Development Building, the Brick, 108 E Proctor Street, Carson City. Nine students from Carson High School’s Advanced Photography program have work in the exhibit. The free exhibition is available to the public through March 26, 2020, Mondays through Fridays, 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. The Carson High students include Jackie Garza, Ansley Griffin, Karla Herrera, Meagan Kiesow, Kayee Konze, Kailee Luschar, Vanessa Martinez, Haley Trost, and Valerie Wamsley. The artists are all students in Kara Ferrin’s Advanced Photography class.
— Nevada Artists Association Judged Winter Show to run through March 27. 10 a.m. Nevada Artists Association presents the Winter Show. This is a judged show presenting a wide array of entries from Northern Nevada artists. This show runs through March 27. The Gallery is located at 449 W. King Street in Carson City and is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. everyday, except Monday. — Cardio and Strength Connection class offered through Carson Tahoe Wellness. If you've had problems with your heart, or have diabetes, a healthy lifestyle is the best way to get you feeling like you should. We've created Cardio and Strength Connection to help you develop a healthy exercise program in a safe and comfortable environment. Come join us every Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Health and Wellness Institute, Suite 250, 1470 Medical Pkwy. Cost: $10 monthly.
— Parks and Rec director featured at Thursday's Carson City Native And Newcomers Club. 11:30 a.m. All are invited to the Carson City Native And Newcomers Club meeting on Thursday, March 12. Our club is a nonprofit serving the Carson City area. We meet monthly except, August, for lunch and discussion. We have a guest speaker this month from Carson City Parks and Recreation. The speaker is Director Jennifer Budge who will tell us of upcoming and current events for all ages. At the meeting we plan our goals to meet a few commitments to support 2 scholarships. We give a $1,000 scholarship to a nursing graduate from Western Nevada College and a $500 scholarship to Carson High School. — Carson City Library hosts Family Storytime. 10:30 to 12:15 a.m. These are both the same and last 45 minutes. Weekly themed singing, stories, finger-plays, or art centered around a book. Participants 9 and under must be accompanied by a caregiver of at least 13 years of age at all times. 900 North Carson Street.
— Preserving History: A Basic Workshop. 1 to 4 p.m. The Nevada State Archives is providing a free basic preservation workshop on March 12, 2020 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. The training will cover preserving documents and photos, storage methods for various types of records, as well as information about electronic records. No previous experience is required; this training is open to anyone who might be interested. The training will be held at the Nevada State Library and Archives Building, 100 N. Stewart Street, Carson City. Space is limited so please contact State Archives Manager, Cynthia Laframboise, at 775-684-3319 or claframboise@admin.nv.gov to reserve your spot.
— Qigong Tai Chi by Kathryn Bricker. 1:15 p.m. Tai Chi Easy is a mind-body practice that combines gentle exercise, breathing, self-applied massage, and meditation to activate self-healing properties. — Muscle Powered Thursday Hike March 12 at V&T Trail. 3 p.m. Come join Muscle Powered for a free, guided group walk, hike, or ride around Carson City! Muscle Powered is a local non-profit organization that promotes walking, hiking, biking and trail building. A schedule of all upcoming activities and events can be found at www.musclepowered.org/calendar. March 12 – V & T Trail - South end, to walk north. Meet at Long Ranch Park, corner of Longview Way and Bristol Place. Thursday hikes start at 3 p.m. and are 2-4 miles with duration of about 90 minutes, sometimes with elevation gains of 500’ or more. — LEGO Club for kids at Carson City Library. 4 to 6 p.m. Build self-led creations through hands-on learning with LEGO Education materials. Participants 9 and under must be accompanied by a caregiver of at least 13 years of age at all times. 900 North Roop Street.

It also has a strong mind/body connection that gives you an low impact targeted core workout. You’ll get stronger with more sculpted muscles and gain flexibility which can give you a better sense of well being all around. — Introduction to Improv Comedy at The Brewery Arts Center. 7 to 9 p.m. The workshop, Introduction to Improv is free of charge and will be held at The Brewery Arts Center's Performance Hall on Thursday, March 12 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
