February means it's time to Share the Love. Current Kaia Girls can bring their friends any Saturday in February. And if you don't know a Kaia Girl, come anyway. We'd love to introduce you to our program. Open to women of all ages and fitness levels, KaiaFIT classes are designed to meet you exactly where you are. Our saturday workouts start at 8am and alternate between Power Hour (a full body workout focusing on function and muscle confusion) or I Kan Dance (our cardio-filled dance fitness hour).

Free fitness classes for women offered in Carson City and Minden

The women’s fitness program, Kaia FIT, is opening its doors to the community for a free week of classes.
“Spring is a good time to start getting healthy for summer,” said owner Nikki Warren. “It’s spring cleaning for your body.”

Beginning Monday, women in Carson City and Minden/Gardnerville can drop in on any class that may interest them. Classes include cross training, TRX, running, cardio dance and a yoga and Pilates mix.

reAlign Movement-Based Pilates opens new Carson City studio

reAlign, LLC, a Movement-based Pilates Studio, officially opened their doors at 623 W. Washington Street by holding a ribbon cutting at their new Carson City location.

Owner Bonnie Lafave was assisted in the ribbon cutting by Assemblyman-elect “PK O’Neill” who congratulated her on choosing Carson City to open her business.

The nomination period for the 2014 Blue Ribbon Awards ended on Friday, Oct. 10. TahoeChamber’s prestigious awards program that recognizes exceptional South Shore businesses received over 175 nominations for eight separate award categories. One of Carson City’s Most Popular Trainers Passes the Torch

On Sept. 1 the Carson City fitness mainstay Body by Pilates studio will be changing hands as Master trainer and founder Jan Shaw will be handing over the reins to Carson resident and certified Pilates instructor Angela Kennedy.

Shaw became interested in Pilates after a chance meeting with legendary trainer Leslee Bender. Jan trained at Bender’s Reno Studio receiving her certifications and opened Body by Pilates in 2003. The studio quickly became a local favorite for Pilates training and Yoga and has remained a popular training campus throughout the last decade.

Women to Women with Judy Bendure

This week's Women to Women is with Judy Bendure, a 46-year resident of Carson City. Judy is retired from the State of Nevada after 25 years of service. However, her energies and drive to maintain excellent health and balance for her own body have led her to become one of the area's foremost certified trainers in Pilates.

Judy is certified as an aerobic instructor,as well as a certified Personal Trainer. Her personal story and that of the history of Pilates is well worth viewing.
