Sunday, September 22
— Final Day of 31st annual Dayton Valley Days. 7:30 a.m. with Activities throughout the day. Events Sunday begin with the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast in front of the Dayton Community Center from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Then activities planned throughout the day including gold panning and demonstrations by Comstock Gold Prospecting Club, street festival continues with tours, crafts, food booths, entertainment and more in Old Town Dayton. The 30th annual pet parade is Sunday at noon, with parading from the Museum to Pike Street, to Main Street and back.
— Muscle Powered morning bicycle ride. 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Fremont Elementary School. Meet at Fremont Elementary School in the South parking lot next to the Linear Ditch Trail. Typically, this ride consists of two 10-15 minute loops with varying pace depending on rider level. This is a “no drop” ride so no one will be left behind. All riders must have a bicycle in safe working condition, a helmet, and closed toed shoes. — Nevada Raider Nation: Carson City Chapter Game Watch. 10 a.m. at Jimmy G’s, 301 N. Carson Street. Carson City Chapter will host an Oakland Raiders vs Minnesota Vikings game watch at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, at Jimmy G's, 301 N. Carson St. New fans are welcome to join and sit (and scream) during the action of the game. Membership is just $20 per person. Jimmy G's will offer drink specials during the game; those attending are welcome to bring a breakfast item to share, or donate to the cause.
— Chautauqua of Hiram D. Scott at Dangberg Historic Park. 10 a.m. at Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park. The final Chautauqua of the 2019 Festival season will portray Hiram D. Scott, Alpine County, California pioneer, on Sunday, September 22, at 10:00 am. Hiram Daniel Scott was a ship builder from Pittston, Maine by trade. Initially he settled in Santa Cruz, California in 1847, then followed the Gold Rush when gold was discovered at Sutter's Mill. There he operated a ferry business across the San Joaquin River.
— Train to Virginia City from Carson City. Event takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 4650 Eastgate Siding Road. Prices for the ride range from $25-$55. Rediscover Nevada’s rich history in mining and mill on the V&T Carson City-Virginia City route as you meander through tunnels, canyons and mining towns aboard a restored 1914 Pullman coach led by a 1916 Baldwin 2-8-0 steam locomotive. This relaxing all-day train excursion is fully narrated with historical facts and anecdotes. Departing from Carson City’s Eastgate Depot, the 24-mile round-trip tour includes a fun 3.5-hour stopover in historic Virginia City, where you can stroll the boardwalks and explore restaurants, shops, saloons, museums, mines and more. — Nevada Artists Association Art Gallery Autumn Membership Show. 10 a.m. Enjoy artwork from our member artists. Membership has risen to nearly 150 local artists during our 40th year operating as a gallery. The Autumn Membership show runs from Sept. 8 to Oct. 18 at Nevada Artists Association Art Gallery at 449 W. King Street in Carson City. Open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. Also, save the date, Nov. 3 we will be hosting our 40th Anniversary Celebration on location at the Gallery, 2-4 p.m. Please join us in marking this historical occasion.
— History walks, talks featured at Genoa's Mormon Station State Historic Park. 11:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Join a park ranger for a talk on the early settlement and development of Mormon Station, and what life was like for the early settlers that called this place home. This talk will focus on the 1850’s, and discuss how Mormon Station grew from a remote trading station to a bustling community over the span of a few years.
— Carson Valley Community Center presents 'Moon Over Buffalo'. 2 to 4 p.m. at the CVIC Hall in Minden. Set in Buffalo, New York in 1955, it is a comedic farce about two run down actors, attempting to revive their repertory company while dreaming of their lost careers in Hollywood. Don’t miss this hilarious comedy, with local actors and many behind the scenes volunteers.
