Carson City Search and Rescue hosts Geocache Adventure
Carson City geocachers get ready. Saturday, April 27 is your day. The Geocache Adventure, a second-annual event hosted by the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Unit, will provide a day's worth of searching for participants and $1,000 in prizes.
Registration begins at 9 a.m. with a 10 a.m. start time. The gathering will meet at Bully's Sports Bar and Grill, 3530 N Carson Street. Cost: Kids under 15: $12 Adults: $20 Team of 4 any age: $60
Entry fees:
Include burger or hot dog lunch provided by Bully’s, Twenty Station Geo Cache Search / Poker Run, awards and an opportunity to get out and explore our beautiful country in a fun way.
Activities:
In addition to the Geo – Cache Poker Run, swift water rescue equipment and search vehicles will be on display. Members will be on hand to demonstrate the use of ropes and the kids can participate in a simulated recovery activity.
Additional Information:
This event is open to all skill levels. There will be geo cache challenges for everyone. So come out and be part of this fun day. All you need is a vehicle (1 adult), cell phone and a GPS device.
Have never used a GPS? No problem, for beginners, this event can be navigated without one.
A few complimentary units will be available (I.D. and credit card required) to borrow for the event.
So, for less than taking your kids to the movies, you can get out of the house, get some fresh air, maybe learn something new and contribute to your local Search and Rescue Unit. All profits from this event will be used to upgrade our communication equipment.
Raffle:
For the adults there will be a raffle for prizes donated by local businesses, merchants and food establishments.
Tickets are: $1.00 each, 6 tickets for $5.00
