Carson City sheriff's arrest log: Man jailed on felony charge after road rage incident

A 53-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday on a felony charge of battery with a deadly weapon after allegedly ramming another vehicle during a road rage incident, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Loren Thompson also faces misdemeanor charges of DUI and battery. According to the arrest report, officers were called to the area of South Curry and Shoshone streets. Officers met with the victim who advised he was driving northbound on South Curry with his 17-year-old son and were behind a green Chevy pickup. Without warning the driver of the Chevy pulled off the road and stopped.

The victim continued southbound. When he looked into his rear view mirror he saw the truck bearing down on him at a high rate of speed. The victim moved into the center median to avoid being hit but was, with Thompson allegedly ramming into the rear end of his vehicle. The victim stopped and exited the vehicle. Thompson allegedly pushed the victim and told him he was going to kick his ass, the arrest report states. The victim retreated and asked his son to call 911. Thompson returned to his truck and then pulled into Washoe Tribal Reservation’s smoke shop.

Officers spoke with the man and could smell an odor of alcohol coming from him. The man was asked to speak about the incident but he stumbled away from the officer and had to hold onto the tail gate to keep from falling down, the arrest report states.

He then began shouting at the victim, calling him names and then challenged the officer. Tribal police were called to respond because the suspect was on tribal property. Thompson became unruly and began shouting at the officer, telling him that he wanted to teach the victim a lesson for driving too close. He also told officers he was going to find the victim and “kick his ass” and one of them might “not make it out alive,” the arrest report states.
