Carson City sheriff's deputies make warrant, drug and DUI arrests

A 33-year-old man was arrested Oct. 31 for a felony warrant alleging embezzlement of a motor vehicle, according to a Carson City sheriff's office booking report.

Ryan Michael Galvan was arrested Oct. 31 following a traffic stop for driving with a license plate that wasn't valid and suspended registration.

According to the arrest report, the driver provided a deputy with a Nevada driver's license, insurance and registration. He stated his driver's license was suspended. Dispatch advised Galvan had an active warrant out of Carson City Justice Court alleged embezzlement of a motor vehicle. He was arrested for the warrant. Bail: $20,000.

In other arrests:
— A 19-year-old man, Zachary Holmes, was arrested Sunday, Nov. 1 for a felony contempt of court warrant out of East Fork Township Court. Bail: $25,000.

— A 29-year-old man, Hank William Smith, and a 28-year-old Carson City woman, Ashley Combest, were arrested Saturday for suspicion of drug possession and other offenses following a traffic stop. Two others were also arrested for lesser charges.

During the investigation, two baggies of suspected methamphetamine, glass methamphetamine pipes and hypodermic devices were located. While suspect Combest was detained, she attempted to kick at a Carson City Sheriff's Office sergeant, the arrest report states.

Smith was booked for suspicion, possession of a controlled substance, suspicion of possession of a dangerous weapon, a gross misdemeanor and misdemeanor driving with an obstructed view. Bail for Smith: $5,072. Combest was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing. Bail: $4,049.

— A 23-year-old man was arrested Oct. 31 for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI and failure to yield a right of way.

According to the arrest report, a deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle that nearly crashed into his patrol vehicle when the driver made a left hand turn off Saliman Road.

The deputy made contact with the driver who stated: "I apologize. I didn't mean to cut you off," the arrest report states.

The officer observed the man had red watery eyes. He stated he had a few beers at a bar. The deputy could smell an odor of alcohol coming from his person. He was asked if he would submit to standardized field sobriety tests.

The man agreed and showed signs of impairment. He provided a preliminary breath test of .191. He was arrest for suspicion of DUI. He was taken to the detention center, where he provided evidentiary breath samples of .126 and .121, the report states.

— A 54-year-old man turned himself into jail deputies for a misdemeanor warrant alleging violation of a suspended sentence. Bail: $1,000.

— A 60-year-old man was arrested Oct. 29 for a criminal contempt warrant issued Dec. 30, 2019 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $500.

— A 23-year-old man was arrested Oct. 31, 1:31 a.m. for a misdemeanor bench warrant issued Oct. 12, 2020 out of Lyon County. According to the arrest report, officers responded to East Telegraph Street for a report of a fight. Dispatch confirmed one suspect who was detained, had the warrant. Bail: $547.

— A 22-year-old man was arrested Oct. 31 for suspicion of possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription, a gross misdemeanor offense. According to the arrest report, the man was found to be in possession of five pills identified as Alprazolam, a schedule 4 controlled substance. Bail: $2,500.

— A 31-year-old woman was arrested Nov. 1 in the 800 block of Royal Drive for a misdemeanor failure to comply warrant out of Lyon County. Bail: $3,140.

— A 61-year-old man was arrested Nov. 1, 9:21 p.m. in the 1000 block of North Carson Street for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Oct. 15, 2019 out of Carson City Municipal Court. Bail: $637.

— A 26-year-old Carson City man, Anthony M. Fondi, was arrested Nov. 1, for suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance (heroin) and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the booking report, deputies responded to a motel in the 1800 block of North Carson Street to check on the welfare of a male subject reportedly "slumped over the wheel" in a pickup.

A deputy made contact with the subject and observed multiple hypodermic devices throughout the vehicle. In plain view was a small bag containing a black tar like substance. The man stated the substance was heroin. Also located was a spoon with burn residue on the floorboard. The man was arrested. Bail: $3,637.

— A 59-year-old man was arrested Monday for a misdemeanor violation of suspended sentence warrant and being an ex-felon failing to register. Bail: $3,000.

— A 26-year-old man was arrested Monday for a misdemeanor violation of suspended sentence warrant issued August 27, 2020 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.

— A 35-year-old Dayton man was arrested Tuesday, 8:35 p.m. in the area of Fairview and Fifth Street for misdemeanor driving on a suspended license, no proof of insurance and driving with expired license plates. Bail: $1,446.

— A 46-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday, 12:39 p.m. in the 4100 block of South Carson Street for misdemeanor trespassing. Bail: $242.
