Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: Woman booked for felony child abuse

A 36 year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday evening at 7:51 p.m. in the 10 block of College Parkway on charges of felony child abuse/neglect resulting in substantial bodily and/or mental harm, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

Ariane Ellifritz was taken into custody following a report of child abuse in progress. Carson City Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to an apartment complex, where they met with the suspect and multiple witnesses.

According to the arrest report, Ariane was screaming as deputies attempted to question her and the witnesses on scene. She was eventually detained in handcuffs and escorted to a patrol vehicle, where she attempted to resist by flexing her arms and trying to pull away from deputies.

A witness on scene reported that Ariane had a child in hand with her when she knocked on the door of an apartment and asked to see a "Joey" so she could teach the child a lesson, the report said.

After the witness was told there was no one there by that name, the suspect knocked a second time and asked again for the same person.

When the apartment door closed a second time, Ariane was heard telling the child, "Why are you a piece of shit like your dad?"

The witness stated she then opened the door and saw the suspect drag the child down a concrete staircase, his feet dragging behind him. Once at the bottom, the child attempted to get away from the suspect, who was then seen grabbing the child's head and slamming it into a metal rail on the staircase, the report said.

Ariane was then seen grabbing the child by the mid-section and dragging him away, the report said.

The witness said she attempted to intervene and help the child, but Ariane reportedly responded by shoving her. The witness then followed the suspect and called for law enforcement.

Firefighter-paramedics arrived on scene to evaluate the child, whose injuries required transport to the hospital, the report said.

Multiple other witnesses corroborated the statement of the first witness, the report said.

Deputies were given permission to go into Ariane's residence, which was observe to be disorganized, dirty, no food in the refrigerator and a mattress on the floor without box springs, sheets or blankets, the report said.

Deputies also visited the child at the hospital, observing a small bump on the top of his head. The child was determined to have Asperger's Syndrome, a high-functioning form of Autism. A social worker with the Nevada Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) arrived at the hospital to place the child in CPS custody.

Ariane was subsequently arrested for felony child abuse/neglect and misdemeanor obstruction. She was transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Once there, she provided a preliminary breath test (PBT) that yielded breath-alcohol content (BAC) of .210 percent. Bail: $40,412.

According to the arrest report, law enforcement was dispatched to the scene of a four-vehicle automobile accident on College Parkway near East Nye Lane.

Witnesses at the scene reported that two vehicles were engaged with each other traveling in the eastbound lanes of College Parkway. Those vehicles then crashed, damaging two other vehicles in the process, the report said.

— A 21 year-old Reno man was arrested Friday afternoon at 1:21 p.m. in the area of Interstate 580 and Arrowhead Drive for gross misdemeanor possession of brass knuckles, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

According to the arrest report, a black motorcycle without a mounted license plate was observed traveling northbound on Interstate 580 near the Arrowhead Drive off-ramp.

A Sheriff's deputy then conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the rider, who was identified. A crack-back whip was observed hanging from the handle bars. The rider was wearing a Hells Angels support shirt and a vest patch that read, "Extremely Violent," the report said.

The rider was also open-carrying a semi-automatic handgun on his right hip next to a large, fixed blade knife known as a pig sticker, the report said.

Deputies asked the rider to step off his bike, and a pat-down was done to secure the visible weapon and discover any additional weapons on his person, the report said.

A set of brass knuckles was located during the pat-down in the right-front pants pocket.

A records check did show the motorcycle to be registered, but the plate was not displayed.

The suspect was arrested with the additional misdemeanor charge of improper display and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $2,572.

— A Carson City man was arrested late Friday morning at 11:30 a.m. in the 3600 block of North Carson Street on felony burglary and multiple misdemeanor charges, including violation of bail conditions, ex-felon failing register, driving with an expired license and improper license plate display, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

According to the arrest report, a Sheriff's deputy was dispatched to a retail business on report of petit larceny.

The reporting party (RP) told Carson City Dispatch that the suspect was in the store pushing a shopping cart full of food and continuing to fill the cart. The suspect was recognized by the RP as having been in the store on three other occasions during which he stole large baskets of food, the report said.

During this incident, the suspect was observed approaching the store's south entrance and exit doors after filling the cart. He was observed to have left the last inside the doors, went outside and looked around before returning to retrieve the basket and pass all points of payment, the report said.

The suspect was observed wheeling the cart to a white Ford pickup truck with the license plates removed.

Deputies observed the suspect loading items into the pickup, before attempting to drive away with items still left in the cart.

Law enforcement made contact with the suspect, though, before he could leave the parking lot and was positively identified by the RP as the subject in the store, the report said.

Total value of the items taken from the store was about $468. The items were recovered from the front seat and bed of the pick-up, and the suspect had no wallet or means to pay for the products recovered, the report said.

License plates for the pick-up were located on the front seat floor board inside the cab.

A records check showed the suspect's driver's license had been expired since 2012. He was found to have had three prior larceny arrests at the store and a fourth at another separate retail business, the report said. He was also found to be an ex-felon who had not registered since 2008.

The Carson City Department of Alternative Sentencing verified his current address, which he was not registered at as an ex-felon.

The suspect was handcuffed, taken into custody and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $28,506.

A records check through Carson City Dispatch showed the subject had an active bench warrant issued for his arrest out of the Carson City Justice Court for failing to report to the Carson City Department of Alternative Sentencing, the report said.

The suspect was then contacted, detained in handcuffs, taken into custody and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $3,000.

A traffic stop was made, and the driver contacted and identified by the deputy. Dispatch advised that an active arrest warrant on the subject for violation of a suspended sentence, issued by the Reno Municipal Court, was confirmed.

The suspect was handcuffed and taken into custody at that point, transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail:
