Five arrested in Carson City SET vehicle drug bust

Five people were arrested in the area of N. Lompa and Highway 50 on Thursday afternoon after Carson City Sheriff's Office Deputies with the Special Enforcement Team located drugs for sale in their vehicle.

David Jason Martinez of San Jose, Colten Coralles, born in South Lake Tahoe, and Alibi Smith of Gardnerville were all arrested on felony parole and probation holds, and are all being held without bail.

Hunter Chad Smith of Carson City, 18, was arrested on misdemeanor obstructing and battery of a protected person, a gross misdemeanor.

Steven Williams of Gardnerville, 21, was arrested on felony possession with intent to sale, felony trafficking, failure to maintain a lane, driving without insurance, and driving an unregistered vehicle.

SET deputies stopped an unlicensed car after it cut across two lanes without signaling during heavy traffic. It then swerved back into another lane while speeding.

The deputy conducted a traffic stop, and the driver, Williams, said he had recently purchased the vehicle but couldn’t provide a bill of sale or current insurance.

Additional deputies came to take the other occupants aside, and the reporting deputy asked Williams if he had any drugs in the car. Williams said there might be marijuana.

The deputy asked him to get the marijuana, and Williams pulled out a backpack and handed him a jar full of marijuana. Inside the backpack was a sandwich zip lock bag, and the deputy asked him what was in it.

Williams then immediately ripped open the bag, scattering unknown shards of a substance in his lap. The deputy grabbed his arms and ordered him out of the car, where he was detained.

A K-9 Deputy was dispatched, who gave a positive alert during his sniff search of the vehicle.

Inside, deputies found a substance inside a folded piece of foil. It was a brittle type of gelatin with squares, and the deputy counted over 215 squares. The deputy noted this is how LSD/Acid is packaged for sales.

Williams also had over $2,200 in his wallet despite being unemployed.

Tri-Net Detectives arrived and advised they had recently recovered LSD/Acid from Reno and it was packaged in the same manner.

As Colten Coralles, Alibi Smith and David Martinez were all under the department of parole and probation, they were taken into custody.

Hunter Smith kicked one deputy in the chest as he was being placed in the back of a vehicle.

She said she went to the car door and asked her why she was acting this way, then said she hit her with the door.

She said she decided she was going to keep the door open and said “You are not going to leave here hitting me with the door like this.” She said the daughter then began to hit and kick her.

Deputies noted she had a small bruise on the inside of her left arm from the incident.

Deputies spoke to the daughter, who showed them a video of the incident.

On the video, it showed the mother standing in the doorway blocking the daughter from closing the door. She told the mother she needed to leave because she was putting her children in danger. She asked her several times to let her leave. At one point she screamed at her to let her leave.

She then got into the mother’s car to move it from blocking her in, but the vehicle would not start. She then tried to get out of the mother’s car, but the mother blocked her from leaving it.

A struggle ensued, during which the deputy noted the mother kick the daughter.

After she exited the vehicle, the daughter said the mother threw her to the ground, and deputies noted several small scratches on her knee from where she hit the ground.
