Water taxi service offers South Lake Tahoe access to recreation areas and beaches

A water taxi service based at Camp Richardson Resort connects locals and visitors to lakeside marinas, enhancing economic activity on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe. The service offers stops at three marinas providing access to recreation, sightseeing, dining and shopping.

The 42-ft. Fun Runner Water Taxi is equipped for 49 passengers and offers indoor and outdoor seating. The Munson-style boat runs daily between Camp Richardson, Lakeside and Timber Cove marinas, according to a news release. Roundtrip tickets are $18 for adults and $12 children 12 and under. One way tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for children.

The Fun Runner leaves Lakeside Marina at 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. and arrives at Camp Richardson with departure times at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. The service also accesses the Timber Cove Lodge Marina as needed. Timber Cove is located about 10 minutes from Lakeside and 20 minutes from Camp Richardson.

Camp Richardson Marina is located at the historic resort along the South Shore of Lake Tahoe. The marina features Rum Runner Cruise, Jet Ski rentals, power boats, ski boat rentals, kayaks, paddleboards and paddleboats. Visitors can dine and enjoy a world-famous Rum Runner beachside at the Beacon Bar & Grill, grab some ice cream at the General Store and Deli or visit the Mountain Sports Center to rent bikes or grab maps for nearby hiking trails.

Located in the heart of South Shore Lake Tahoe, Lakeside Marina is the closest area to the casino corridor. Lakeside Marina boasts access to the beach, with a number of picnic tables, volleyball nets, Jet Ski and paddleboard rentals, dining at the Lakeside Beach Grill as well as shopping, all within walking distance.
