Carson City and Lake Tahoe area road report for week of July 25-31
Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of July 25-31, 2016: Work will continue on the Downtown Corridor improvement project on Carson Street. The following streets will be impacted with daytime closures:
— Monday: Robinson west to Curry closed.
— Tuesday: Robinson east to Plaza closed.
— Spear and Proctor closed both east and west for the week.
— 2nd closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday west to Curry.
— Washington closed west to Curry on Thursday and Friday.
Nighttime closures
— Carson Street between Washington and Musser and all side streets in between will be closed nightly 7pm to 7am Monday through Friday.
— Washington and Musser will be open to cross traffic.
— Robinson will be closed in all directions.
Downtown and Third Street businesses are open during construction. For details regarding traffic impacts, please refer to the material provided in local media outlets or go to carsonproud.com for more information. These sources are updated weekly throughout the duration of the project.
In other area work: Roadway patching on Roop Street between Northridge Drive and hot Springs Road will close that portion of Roop Street to southbound traffic from Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Northbound traffic will remain open. Detours will be marked for southbound traffic.
Overnight lane closures will take place on S. Carson Street between Fairview Drive and Overland Street Sundays through Fridays from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. One lane in each direction will always remain open, and business access will remain available.
Lane closures with traffic controls are at the following locations due to utility/road work:
— E. Long Street between Roop Street and Marian Avenue, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
— Center Drive south of Clear Creek Avenue near Topsy Lane, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
— N. Ormsby Blvd. between Winnie Lane and College Parkway, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
— W. Washington Street at the intersection of Saratoga Way, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
— Shouldering project on Arrowhead Drive, Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Road closures expected at the following locations due to utility/road work. Please follow detours:
— Topsy Lane between Center Drive and U.S. 395, Monday through Sunday, for all hours, local traffic only
— Race Track Road between Bigelow Drive and Schulz Drive, Monday through Sunday, for all hours, local traffic only
— Anderson Street between Robinson and Caroline Streets, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
— Convair Drive from Arrowhead Drive to Conestoga Drive and at intersection of Boeing Way, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
— Goni Road from Boeing Way to Kelvin Road, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
— E. Fifth Street loop around the Korean War Memorial, Monday through Sunday, for all hours, parking is available to the south of the park.
Special Events: E. Ninth Street from Carson Street to Fall Street and Plaza Street from E. Eighth south to Plaza Hotel parking lot, Thursday July 28, 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.
W. Ninth Street from Carson Street to Curry Street and South Curry Street from Eighth Street to Tenth Street, Friday July 29, 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
S. Curry Street between Second Street and Fourth Street, Saturday July 30, 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Outside eastbound lane of College Parkway at Market Street, Tuesday July 26, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Sidewalk between I-580 and Research Way on the east of College Parkway, Tuesday July 26, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The following Caltrans roadwork will continue July 24 through July 30, 2016 at Lake Tahoe and in the Sierra.
State Route 89 (Placer County): Work continues on a $70.1 million project from Tahoma to just north of Granlibakken Road in Tahoe City that is upgrading storm water drainage and treatment systems, adding curb and gutter, resurfacing and realigning the road, adding new left-turn pockets and widening shoulders on an 8-mile stretch of the highway. Completion is expected by summer 2017.
State Route 89 (Placer County) from Sugar Pine Road to Ward Creek and from Pine Avenue to Cathedral Drive: Motorists can expect one-way traffic controls from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday for roadway excavation and drainage work.
State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $13 million water quality improvement project from Cascade Road to just north of the Eagle Falls Viaduct over Emerald Bay. The project is constructing new drainage facilities to treat stormwater runoff and repaving a four-mile section of the highway. Completion is expected in summer 2017.
State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from Cascade Road to Upper Emerald Bay Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 3 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday for drainage work, shoulder excavation and guardrail installation.
State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $25 million project from the "Y" junction with U.S. Highway 50 in South Lake Tahoe to Cascade Road, north of Camp Richardson. Curb, gutter and sidewalks will be added in the 1.1-mile four-lane section, and the highway will be widened in the two-lane section to Visitor Center Road to provide 4-foot paved shoulders on each side.
State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from 10th Street to 13th Street and 13th Street to West Way: Southbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday through Thursday south of 13th Street and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday north of 13th Street for pavement grinding work.
State Route 28 (Placer County): Work continues on Placer County’s $50 million Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project from State Route 267 to Chipmunk Street. Highway work includes installing curb and gutter, sidewalks, roundabouts, lighting and drainage systems to enhance pedestrian and bicycle mobility, improve safety and provide water-quality improvements.
State Route 28 (Placer County) from Beach Avenue to Deer Street: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Friday for utility work. Motorists can also expect shoulder closures from Fox Street to Beaver Street from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday for utility work.
State Route 28 (Placer County) from Chinquapin to Robert Avenue in Carnelian Bay: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday for utility work.
State Route 49 (El Dorado County) at Missouri Flat Road in Diamond Springs: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday for pavement grinding work.
State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Riverwood Drive South to Riverwood Drive North: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for drainage work.
U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from 4th Street to River Drive and from Trout Creek to Tulare Avenue in South Lake Tahoe: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect lane restrictions around the clock from 9 p.m. Sunday to 7 a.m. Friday for gas line relocation work.
State Route 89 (Placer County) from Trout Street to Cherry Street in Homewood: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday for bridge work on a path extension.
State Route 89 (Placer County) from the Truckee River Bridge to Cabin Creek Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday for grinding and paving work.
State Route 193 (El Dorado County) at Rock Creek Road: Motorists can expect long-term signalized one-way traffic control for emergency repair work, which is scheduled to be completed in late July.
State Route 267 (Placer County) from Northstar Drive to Martis Peak Road: Motorists can expect intermittent one-way traffic control from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday for utility work.
