The Brewery Arts Center’s Flatbed Concert Series presents Carolyn Dolan & Big Red in West Carson City
The Brewery Arts Center will deliver live music directly to the citizens of Carson City while practicing social distancing once again this week.
Miles Construction Company has generously donated the use of a Flatbed Truck and with financial support from The Change Companies, the Nauman Foundation, and Carson Tahoe Hospital, the BAC will place musicians and bands on the flatbed and drive them through the streets and neighborhoods of Carson City throughout June and July and August.
This Saturday, July 18, the BAC is proud to present Carolyn Dolan & Big Red. Carolyn Dolan has been leading Rock, Blues, Jazz, Country and Funk bands for over two decades. She has been entertaining audiences for over thirty years with her soulful blues voice accompanied by the blues harmonica which is always by her side ready to deliver! She can dive into powerful R & B tunes, deliver a smooth jazz standard, or embrace a gentle country ballad.
Her country roots run so deep that on October 24, 2015 Carolyn Dolan was inducted into the Western Swing Hall of Fame for her dedication and commitment to the preservation, promotion, and perpetuation of Western Swing Music. Currently, her band Big Red, is a Rockin' Soulful Blues and R & B group that fully devotes itself to playing raw, classic blues mixed with funk and R & B rhythms.
She shares the stage with her guitarist for over twenty years, Mick Clarke from London, England who plays the “Big Red “ Gibson 335 like it’s meant to be heard! He is truly
One of the great English Blues purists to come out of the early English Blues/Rock scene in the late 60's; playing with Long John Baldrey and Chuck Berry to name a few. Together with funk keyboardist Ron Savage, and the solid Steve Self on drums, forms the powerful and uncompromising rhythm section for this Rockin' down to-earth Big Red Band. There is so much music in this group you'll want to hear more!
The flatbed stage will be make its way through the southern end of the West Side and will stop near Carson Middle School and wherever people are safely gathering. The BAC strongly encourages social distancing and especially wearing masks when they stop by the larger, open spaces and parks to perform a few songs. The BAC will be giving out art kits to the kids provided by Southwest Gas Company and even face masks if you need one.
