Carson City arrests: Woman admits to breaking into home to steal prescription drugs

A 32-year-old woman was arrested early Monday for suspicion of burglary after admitting that she broke into a residence to steal prescription drugs, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

Martha Marisela Rojas-Larios was taken into custody at 2:52 a.m. According to the arrest report, deputies were called to a residence on Continental Drive regarding suspicious circumstances. Deputies arrived and met with Rojas-Larios, who said there was an intruder at a neighbor's home near her mother's residence, and that she went to investigate, going into the home, in which she said she tried to wake the neighbor up, and was hit with a golf club.

She told deputies she dropped a cell phone and got on her hands and knees to locate the phone and then was able to get out of the residence.

Deputies interviewed the neighbor who said that she woke up to the sound of a cell phone ringing and saw Rojas-Larios on her hands and knees inside her bedroom at the foot end of her bed.

Due to the conflicting stories, Rojas-Larios was read her Miranda rights and agreed to speak. After further interview, Rojas-Larios confessed that she climbed through her neighbor's front window into the residence with the intent to take the woman's prescription pills, the report said.

She stated she was mad at the victim because the victim kept accusing her of stealing her prescription pills in the past, according to the arrest report. Rojas-Larios stated she crawled into the victim's bedroom and was using her cell phone screen light to direct her. She stated her cell phone rang because her mother had called her.

She stated when the cell phone rang, the victim woke up. Rojas-Larios stated she wanted to take the victim's prescription pills for retaliation of being accused of stealing the victim's prescription pills.

Rojas-Larios was arrested for suspicion of felony burglary. Bail: $25,000.
