Man arrested Thursday after throwing rocks through Carson City Aquatic Center windows

A 36-year-old transient man was arrested at the Carson City Aquatic Center after throwing rocks through the windows. He was arrested for failing to register as an ex-felon, destruction of city property, and disorderly conduct.

Deputies responded to the Aquatic Center Thursday just after 5 pm for a report of a man throwing rocks through the windows of the center.

Deputies arrived on scene and made contact with the man, and noted that two inside glass doors were shattered.

A witness to the incident told deputies she saw the man throwing the rocks, and she hid under the front counter inside the Aquatic Center when the first window was hit.

After running the man’s information, it was determined he had been in Carson City for two weeks but had failed to register since arriving as an ex-felon. His last registration had been in Sparks.

He was transported to the Carson City Jail without incident.

Bail: $3,121

— A 37-year-old transient man was arrested in the 3300 block of Highway 50 Thursday afternoon for felony possession of a controlled substance and petit larceny.

Michael Anthony Jacobs was arrested after deputies responded to a report of a petit larceny at a local grocery store. Employees told deputies they witnessed a man wearing blue jeans, a tan jacket, and two pairs of sunglasses walk out of the store with a case of Bud Light without paying. He then walked north towards Highway 50.

Deputies located the man based on the description, who was located close buy drinking a Bud Light with the case torn open.

On his person, deputies located a small plastic baggie with white residue which tested positively for methamphetamine.

He was taken into custody without incident.

Bail: $2,852

— A 27-year-old Carson City woman was arrested in the 2600 block of Carmine Street Thursday evening for domestic battery, a second offense.

According to the police report, deputies were dispatched to the residence in reference to a domestic dispute that had turned physical after the initial call to dispatch.

Upon arrival, deputies viewed a man walking around the corner of the house, and asked him to talk with them. Deputies noted the man had a strong odor of alcohol coming form his person, a small cut under his right eye near his cheek bone, and his eyes were red and puffy as if he had been crying.

He told deputies he had been arguing with his girlfriend who lived in the residence with him had been arguing all night. They had been together for a year, he said, and that his girlfriend had hit him but he never touched her. He then retracted and said nothing happened, and she hadn’t hit him.

When asked how he came about his injuries, he said he had been wrestling with his girlfriend’s cousin earlier in the day.

Deputies spoke to family members of the man, who had originally arrived on scene because they heard the man was having suicidal thoughts. They told deputies they were there when the couple was arguing, and a family member stepped between them to try and diffuse the situation. At that point, the girlfriend reached around the family member and struck the man in the face with a closed fist two times.

The girlfriend said she and the man had been arguing all day, and that she wanted the man to leave but he wouldn’t, so she called the Sheriff’s Office. She said the family members arrived and stood between her and the man, and the man told her if she hit him, he would hit her back. She said she did not hit him, and the family member escorted the man outside, at which point law enforcement arrived.

Due to the injuries on the man’s face, the girlfriend was taken into custody. At the jail, it was determined she had been previously convicted of a charge of domestic battery in 2016.

Bail: $5,000

— A 37-year-old Carson City woman was arrested in the 200 block of Burton Street Thursday morning on a charge of domestic battery first.

Deputies were dispatched to N. Carson Street in reference to a man bleeding from his nose. Deputies located the bleeding man on Fall Street, who identified himself and told them his ex-wife had hit him in the face.

According to the report, he told deputies he and his ex-wife had gotten into an argument over her going to a party in Reno. He said they had been married for twelve years and have three children together. He said yelled at her, but never hit or pushed her. As the argument continued near the couch of their residence, she open hand slapped the man two to three times, he said, at which point he left the residence and was going to stay away for the night.

Deputies went to the residence on Burton Street and made contact with the woman. They said she was “hysterical” as they knocked on the door. According to the police report, she did not want deputies inside the residence and stated they could talk to her through the door.

Eventually, she allowed deputies inside, when they noticed she had red knuckles on her right hand as well as blood splatter on the right side of her shorts. There was also blood spots on the floor of the living room near the couch. She said she did not know where the blood came from and throughout their conversation she would “get emotional and start punching the palm of her hands.”

She told deputies the man had returned from work drunk. She said she didn’t want to let him inside so she shut and locked the door. She said they spoke through the living room window and he had never entered the residence, then later said she had opened the door for him.

Due to the blood on her person and in the residence, she was arrested for domestic battery and was transported to the Carson City Jail without incident.

Bail: $3,137

— A 68-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the area of E. Nye and Kit Sierra Way Thursday evening for DUI first and failure to stop at a stop sign.

Deputies responded to the are on report of a crash with injuries.

Deputies arrived on scene and found a male subject in the driver’s seat of a sedan on the north shoulder of the road. He was being extricated by Carson Fire.

According to the report, the vehicle struck the stop sign at the intersection of E. Nye and Surrey, and it had been struck by a white pick up located near by on the driver’s side.

The driver of the sedan, deputies noted, smelled strongly of alcohol, and it was determined the sedan had failed to stop at the stop sign, entering the intersection at which point the white pickup collided with the sedan’s driver’s side.

The driver of the sedan refused medical treatment and returned to his vehicle, at which point deputies spoke with him. They noted he had red and watery eyes and slurred speech. He told deputies he had consumed two coffee-cup sized glasses of wine.

His preliminary breath test came back as 0.067. According to the report, deputies arrested the man based on their observations that the man was under the influence of alcohol, and a blood test was later obtained at Carson Tahoe Hospital.

Bail: $1,249

— A 37-year-old man was arrested on violation of bail conditions after alcohol was found in his home while on probation.

James Lester Christy of Carson City was arrested by Special Enforcement Team deputies who were conduction a probation check with Nevada Parole and Probation. On his probation, Christy had a no alcohol clause. Inside the residence, deputies located seven beers, and a beer can in the trash which appeared to have been consumed recently. Christy denied drinking alcohol.

He was taken into custody. No bail.

— A 48-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 2500 block of N. Carson Street for DUI first Thursday evening.

Deputies responded to the area on reports of a man asleep in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. The headlights of the vehicle were on and the engine was running. The reporting party said the man was slumped over towards the center console, and that the vehicle and the subject had been there for about one hour.

Deputies made contact with the man, and noted there was a “light odor” of alcohol coming from his person. He said he had had one beer with such around noon, and had taken two or three muscle relaxers and a Percocet pain pill prior to driving. He said the medication is prescribed for a back surgery he had last year.

According to the report, he seemed confused as to where he was and could not answer why he was asleep in his vehicle. His preliminary breath test gave a reading of 0.74 percent.

He was arrested without incident for DUI first.

Bail: $1,137

— A 42-year-old man in custody at the Carson City Jail was served with an additional warrant for failure to appear on a warrant out of Carson City Justice Court, issued March 13.

Bail: $1,000 cash only
