Carson City arrests: Jail inmates booked for felony battery after alleged assault
A 28-year-old Carson City man and a 26-year-old Reno man, both inmates at Carson City Jail, were arrested Sunday for suspicion of felony battery on a protected person, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.
Michael Westly Tiehm, 28 and Joel Vidrio, 26 were booked on charges for allegedly attacking a fellow inmate at the Carson City Jail. A Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputy observed red marks on the victim's left ribcage and appeared to be in physical pain. Bail: $20,000 each.
In other arrests:
— A 27-year-old Carson City woman was arrested at 1300 N Carson Street on Sunday, 10:50 a.m., for misdemeanor battery.
According to the arrest report, Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputies detected the odor of alcohol coming from the suspect's breath or person. According to the victim's report, the suspect was angry and became more aggressive the more she drank.
The victim stated the suspect bit her on the neck and scratched her neck on the opposite side. According to the arrest report, the victim said they were not arguing with each other and that she did not know why the suspect attacked her. The victim stated she wanted to pursue charges and signed a citizen’s arrest form. Bail: $1,137.
— A 32-year-old transient man was arrested Saturday, 8:20 a.m., at 2710 Menlo Drive for misdemeanor obstructing/interfering with a public officer.
Deputies were dispatched to a domestic dispute and according to the arrest report, the suspect refused to identify himself. The arrest report states that the suspect was told multiple times that he was being detained during the investigation and that he was required to identify himself to law enforcement. Bail: $412.
— A 34-year-old man from Fontana, Calif., was arrested Saturday, 8:45 p.m., at the intersection of William and Carson Street. During a routine traffic stop a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant issued by Lyon County was discovered during a records check. Bail: $280.
—A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 9:11 p.m., at the intersection of West Park and North Roop streets for misdemeanor DUI second offense, basic speeding 1 to 10 mph over and violation of probation.
According to the arrest report a Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputy was patrolling when he observed a vehicle fail to maintain its lane and nearly struck a curb. The vehicle was paced at 45 mph in a 35 mph zone. The deputy also stated that when the vehicle approached the red light at Roop and Long streets, it stopped past the painted stop-line.
When the deputy stopped the driver and made contact he could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from the suspect. The suspect claimed to have not been drinking, the arrest report states.
The suspect submitted to field sobriety tests and failed three out of the four tests, according to the arresting officer. A preliminary breath test gave a result of 0.190 percent BAC, the arrest report states.
— A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 7:14 p.m., at the intersection of Telegraph and Carson streets on a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant out of Douglas County.
The suspect was pulled over for a routine traffic stop when CCSO deputies observed the rear license plate of the suspect's vehicle was not illuminated along with observing a large crack across the vehicles windshield, the arrest report states. Bail: $215.
— A 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 4:25 p.m. for petit larceny. The suspect was already in custody at the Carson City Jail for an unrelated warrant.
The man was reported by the asset protection division at the Walmart on 3200 Market Street. According to the arrest report, CCSO deputies compared surveillance footage from the theft at Walmart with other photos obtained to make identification.
The suspect is seen in a video in what appears to be a Walmart store wearing the same baseball hat, gray shoes and black framed glasses as in the Walmart surveillance footage of the theft.
According to the arrest report the items allegedly stolen were a jacket, computer tower, and backpack. The total value of the items was $543.53. When the suspect was approached at the Carson City Jail by a deputy to discuss the matter, he confessed to the allegation of theft, the arrest report states.
— A 48-year-old Carson City man was arrested on Saturday, 8:16 p.m., near Bel Air Way on a misdemeanor warrant out of Carson City for violation of suspended sentence.
According to the arrest report, a Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched to a report of a domestic dispute. Upon arrival to the residence a person said her cousin, the suspect, was yelling at her and refused to leave the residence. Upon a records check for the suspect the misdemeanor warrant for his arrest was discovered. It was determined that the dispute at the residence was verbal only and their had been no physical altercation. Bail: $3,000.
— A 40-year-old transient man was arrested on Sunday, 11:08 a.m., at Mills Park for violation of pretrial supervision/waiting sentence.
A Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched to Mills Park to investigate a report of a suspicious suspect. The arrest report states the suspect was observed rocking back and forth and side to side. The deputy observed the man to be fidgety and restless.
Upon a records check the suspect was found to have probation conditions through the Department of Alternative Sentencing, although the suspect stated that he was not on probation, according to the arrest report.
The suspect became hostile and aggressive toward the deputy and was placed in handcuffs for the suspect's safety. The arrest report states that the suspect was asked to provide a preliminary breath test as per conditions of release and the man refused to cooperate while stating, “F*** you.” When the suspect was informed that he was only being detained and to provide a sample he stated, “F*** you, I’m going to jail anyway.”
The suspect was placed in a patrol car and the arrest report states that the suspect was kicking the vehicle and yelling obscenities. The Department of Alternative Sentencing gave authorization for arrest, and according to the arrest report, the suspect submitted to a preliminary breath test at the Carson City Jail and provided a partial sample of .027 percent BAC.
