Carson City man jailed for probation violation after giving deputy false name

A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday for violation of parole and probation conditions after allegedly giving a Carson City sheriff’s deputy a wrong name when asked for identification.

Colt Allen Hagler was taken into custody at 12:05 p.m. in the Prison Hill area. According to the arrest report, a Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a remote area of the Prison Hill area for reports of shots being fired in the area. The deputy observed a vehicle with three subjects target shooting.

The deputy spoke with the subjects, two males and a female and asked for identification. A wants and warrants check was made on all three subjects. The deputy was advised they could not find a match for Hagler, who had given the deputy the name of “Colt Goff.”

Dispatch advised they did locate a male by the name of Colt Hagler and that he returned with a parole and probation priority 2 dangerous offender hit. The deputy verified the information with a photo in the local system from a previous arrest. Hagler was taken into custody for providing false information to law enforcement, a violation of conditions through parole and probation. He’s being held without bail in lieu of a hearing.

The reporting party asked for a welfare check on the man because it was cold and had been snowing. Deputies made contact with the man who appeared to be both frightened and paranoid and in an unstable mental state.

The man was insisting there were spiders in his apartment, where he lives alone. The man denied using drugs then said he had smoked cocaine around an hour prior to being contacted.
