Levitt Amp Free Concert Series continues this Saturday night with Gene Evaro, Jr. and Silver
The Brewery Arts Center will continue an unforgettable season of free concerts under the stars in Carson City. It’s time again to grab your family, friends and neighbors and get ready to head on down to the Brewery Arts Center’s newest community treasure and join with us to enjoy Gene Evaro Jr. and Silver.
Having started out strong with Big Bad VooDoo Daddy, and continuing with great music from The Novelists, Athena McIntyre, Guitar Shorty and Reno Indie Artist Grace Hayes this week's rock and funk artists Gene Evaro Jr. and Silver are show stoppers not to be missed.
Sponsored in part by the Mortimer & Mimi Levitt Foundation, a private family foundation that empowers communities to transform neglected public spaces into thriving destinations through the power of free, live music, the Levitt AMP CARSON CITY Music Series presents 10 free, family-friendly concerts to the public currently at Minnesota Street Stage. The series still has a diverse lineup of high caliber talent left to present spanning genres like Reggae, Southern Rock, Cumbia, Bluegrass and much more.
This week’s show begins at 7pm on Saturday, July 15. First, we will enjoy Silver. Silver brands itself as American roots music. Listening to them is almost like listening to all of rock ’n’ roll’s various incarnations, from the edgy vocals, at times reminiscent of classic rock, to Americana-esque chord progressions, and an occasional funk guitar line. Headlining Saturday night is Gene Evaro. Gene Evaro, Jr. presents with the folk magic of Paul Simon, to the crazy funk fashion of Sly & The Family Stone, to the lyrical poetry of Jim Morrison. Gene’s old-soul youthful songs speak for his generation through his prolific songwriting.
The diverse line up continues on Saturday, July 22 with La Misa Negra. La Misa Negra is an 8-piece band from Oakland, California that plays a unique blend of 1950's and 60's style cumbia and high-energy, Afro-Colombian dance music and rounding out July is Nashville artists’ Southern Drawl Band on July 29, a Southern Rockin' Country music with a twist of lime distilled in the backwoods of Tennessee.
Fresh off Coachella, psychedelic cumbia-punk trio Thee Commons will perform on Aug. 5. Reggae royalty Marla Brown will perform Aug. 12. Five piece electric newgrass group Dusty Green Bones will take the stage on Aug. 26 with the Cherry Pickers opening. Irish Rockers and Young Dubliners will end the series on Sept. 2.
The public is invited to bring their own picnics, blankets and lawn chairs to the concerts, which will have an open lawn and lot setting. Food trucks, libations and kids activities will be available at each of the shows. Pets on leash are welcomed as well. The Levitt AMP concert series is located at 449 West King Street at the corner of King and Minnesota. Admission is free.
