The Hundred Year War On The Economy
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Fri, 01/11/2013 - 10:26amSometimes it takes a while to get the big picture, to see things coming into focus. Now, I am not much for conspiracy theories, but if anything looks like it is being driven by design, this is one. The theories driving it were formulated many lifetimes ago. The people whose sick minds spawned them are long dead. For the life of me I do not understand how any egomaniac could possibly get his jollies from a trend he might have started but maybe not even his great-grandson might see coming to fruition. But there it is, a hundred year timeline on several fronts.

Movie Review: 'Arthur's Christmas' a true holiday treat
Submitted by admin on Mon, 11/28/2011 - 12:02pmGlory be, what's going on in Hollywood? First there was Scorsese's "Hugo," an excellent non-Christmas homage to a French motion picture innovator. Book Review: Fareed Zakaria explains America no longer alone as superpower
Submitted by Sam Bauman on Mon, 07/18/2011 - 11:16amFareed Zakaria is a TV talk show who knows the complex world of economics, the Mideast and international politics. His book "The Post-American World, Release 2.0," paints a world where the United States is no longer the sole superpower. Not that superpowers are measured in size of armies but rather in economic sense.
Zakaria writes well and with a tremendous fund of knowledge, and while he paints a grim picture for the USA, he doesn't write the country off.

It starts out with three alleged witches hanged and drowned (talk about overkill!), one of which comes back to do in the priest who condemned the three.

Sharron Angle wants to 'personalize' the VA; what does that mean?
Submitted by Sam Bauman on Tue, 10/26/2010 - 11:58pmRarely has a Nevada senatorial race received the nationwide attention this year’s has. Of course, there’s the old pro versus the new pro — Harry Reid and Sharron Angle. Both have been around the barn a number of times, she in the Nevada Legislature and Harry in all kinds of jobs, most currently, of course, Senate majority leader.
Seems a lot of Nevadans are unhappy with Harry, mostly because he is now an insider, carrying out President Obama’s programs as any majority leader would be forced to do if it’s his party in the White House.

The elected officials in Bell gave it to them, along with $100,000 annual salaries for themselves, for their part-time jobs.

One is a children's production, Aladdin, Jr." at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada. The other is the venerable "Sound of Music," staged by the Western Nevada Musical Theater Company, affiliated with our local college.
Review: 'Laramie Project' is the best play in years by Carson City players, directors
Submitted by Sam Bauman on Sun, 04/18/2010 - 1:57pmThere are at least a dozen reasons Carson folk should see the play "The Laramie Project" next weekend at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall. But two should be enough to get you moving.
First, the play itself is intense, absorbing, dramatic, engaging. Maybe play isn’t the right word since this is a collection of comments made by Laramie residents before and after the murder of gay college student Matthew by beating and leaving to freeze on a Wyoming back road.
