Tom Brooks Memorial Kids' Fishing Day
The sixth annual “Tom Brooks Memorial Kids' Fishing Day” will be held on Saturday May 7th, 2016 at Baily Fishing Pond, located at Fuji Park. The fun starts at 8am and will run until 1pm.
Tom Brooks was an avid fisherman who cared about giving to our community and to children who would benefit from an outdoor experience. It is sponsored by the Carson City Host Lions Club with help from the Nevada Department of Wildlife, and Carson City Parks and Recreation. The Clear Creek Bowmen will provide archery lessons. The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation will have an inflatable indoor BB gun facility. NDOW will teach duck calling, decoy use, and waterfowl identification. An expert in Gyotaku (Japanese fish printing), will instruct kids on this traditional art form.
This event is free. Kids 12 years and older need a Nevada Fishing License & Trout Stamp. Top notch instructors are available to help kids in all aspects of fishing. You are encouraged to bring your fishing equipment. A limited amount of rods will be available. Bait, hooks and sinkers are also available at the event. An ice chest is recommended. There will be a special raffle where kids will have a chance to win one of four great prizes. Mark your calendars and plan on joining us Saturday May 7th.
