Carson Mayor to speak at Democratic luncheon

Lori began her service on the Board of Supervisors in January, 2015, representing Ward 3, and was elected mayor in 2020. She is currently running for reelection against four other candidates in the June 11 primary. The top two will go on to the November 5th general election.
Carson City Moose Lodge No. 2709 raises $250 for FISH through Empty Bowls
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Mon, 12/04/2023 - 4:02pmOn Friday, Dec. 1, Carson City Moose Lodge No. 2709 members participated in the Empty Bowls fundraiser held at Carson Mall. Attendees were encouraged to purchase a hand crafted, unique pottery bowl from the Ogres-Holm Pottery Studio for a $15 donation and were then able to fill each with a soup, chili or spaghetti provided by 20 different local restaurants.
The Moose effort was coordinated by David Wroth and presented the check for $250 to Jim Peckham of FISH.

Throughout the year, the committee invites the community to join them at Ogres-Holm Pottery to learn how to create, glaze, and design ceramic bowls for the event.
Carson City schools compete in Trick or Treat Food Drive to help families in need

Nevada Women's Fund Awards FISH with Annual Community Grant

This grant award will be devoted to the FISH Student Housing project and help alleviate the housing costs for women living within. This way, the women can focus on their higher education without the burden of housing costs which will empower their learning potential, uplift families out of generational poverty, and strengthen the community. This is a major recognition for FISH with Nevada Women's Fund's support of this first-of-its-kind Nevada pilot program.
GreenUP!, downtown Carson City restaurants host fundraiser for FISH through Christmas, raise awareness on food waste

He also serves as Chaplin for the Carson City Sheriff's Office. Deacon Craig is also the Founding Director of the Night Off The Streets program, or NOTS for short. To reduce the risk of ill healh or death due to hypothermia, NOTS provides overnight shelter at local churches to people without homes.

At 6 a.m. Tom and I were on the lake waiting for the official start time. There was an eerie fog-like mist lingering over the lake. It was a cool 18 degrees, and the winds were calm. Our first line went into the water at 6:33 a.m. and the first strike came at 7 a.m.
